Hi Everyone,
I have a Massey Fergusson 1030 tractor with a 1016 loader. While moving some logs I seem to have damaged one of the dump cylinders. Once it was retracted if failed to extend again. I removed the cylinder and have tried calling local hydraulic repair places but they don't want to work on tractor cylinders. I have thought of calling my local Massey dealer to see if he could help or one of the tractor salvage yards for a used one. Any suggestions?

Your tractor and loader are out of time. Your tractor is half past the hour, and your loader about a quarter past.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. Welcome to TBN. I'm about the only moron that does stuff like this, so don't worry.
Oh, about your problem, now that you have the cylinder off, can you extend the rod by hand? This problem could be either hydraulic or mechanical. I would have disconnected the cylinder by removing one of the pins and actuated the hydraulics to see if the cylinder works. If it doesn't, it's a cylinder problem. If it does work, it's a mechanical problem. If it is a cylinder problem, you can keep trying to locate a repair shop and get an estimate. Or, you can buy a new pair aftermarket. I say a pair as finding an exact match on the aftermarket is not too probable and you would like to keep them matched. Or, see how the dealer will help. A problem like this is when you find out how fair your dealer treats you.
