10 Hour Update

Hi to all,

I just turned 10 hours on the JD 4200, just had to say all is going well. The only incident is getting stuck in the wet area below the pond dam while mowing (hey-this thing is 4WD!!!) Luckily my neighbor Jerry came home shortly after and kindly pulled me out. The only damage (other than the fragile ego) was a bent wheel on the Frontier 60" finish mower, a little heat and a sledge hammer took care of it. Other than that all is operating well. I've swapped the finish mower for the box blade and taken the fel on and off. What a great tractor! If only the house construction was going as well, in 2 weeks no progress, still looking at a foundation sitting in the mud!

Budman72... what did you get pulled out with (don't tell me if it was Orange or Blue)...Congrat on your 4200 and the first 10 hours... I just picked up a 4310 and with 8 hours I am very satisfied.

Must be something about ponds.My son stuck my 4200 on the pond diggin out silt about an hour into his first tractoring.
Watch the stray batt. juice on the oil cooler.I have not found a loose nuthin on my unit ever,but I still take a spin on the creeper just lookin bout once a month ta be sure. Good luck and happy trails.

Bud, glad to here about all the fun (I mean work) your having with it. Next time you get stuck if your FEL is on try raising your mower, uncurling you bucket, then down and hold (lift your front wheels off the ground), and curl you bucket while in reverse. Most of the times you can walk yourself out of all but the very worst situations.

Here's the pic, the foundation of our new home is in the background. The tractor that got me out is an older MF, full size - Jerry likes red tractors!
