Anyone plow snow with a dually pickup?

They suck to plow with. Need at a minimum a 9’ plow for a standard cab and chassis. DRW float on top of the snow thus not getting the traction down to the ground. Drop a yard or two of salt and sand into the dump body was one way around it. In the old days you would see one set of tires removed...

    Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

The weight is what helps in scraping up packed snow and ice. I’m doing a neighbors paved drive temporarily while he is recovering but my blower is set for my gravel drive that is still setting up a base. What a beast on pavement this could be with a simple adjustment.

    Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

Mine has proven itself several times and as recently as early last week. It clogged up because I did something very stupid to try. 😂 We had 11 inches that was compressed to 8 with major rain. My inverted did just fine other than attempting to recycle snow from 3 full passes at a sick...

General opinions on R1 vs. R14 tires?

The tread pattern clearly says they ain’t R-1 or 4. They are not turfs so what’s left? Fact is I like them for what surfaces I want to use the machine on.

    Pronovost Puma 80"

    Snowblower and crushed rock driveway

An ATV is near useless. If I wanted snow pushed over 80 feet to be sure there’s enough space come spring I would have kept my plow guy at 50.00 per storm and not spent 10K on a blower.

    New R14 tires.

Nokian R14 owner here. My primary use is winter snowblowing but also some minor tree work with a logging winch, 72” rotary cutter and a chipper. I’ve run turf tires for many years on a NH 4835 and my JD 4720 came with cracked R1 Titan tires that I truly hated. I’m never looking back on buying...

    Tap brass oil

You don’t need to use any oils cutting brass by blade, endmill, threading or drilling. I loved machining it letting the chips fly. In fact when drilling the bit prefers a 0degree or slight flat face on the cutting edge. Brass loves to catch so clamping is not a stupid move depending on what...

Quick-attach hydraulic plows - Artillian or Land Pride?

I converted a 8’ Fisher to fit my old NH4835 at work. It was great for scraping the pavement bare with some down pressure but useless for snow due to lack of speed. It also worked well for winging back the snowbanks.
  27. B

    Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

A drift? No problem at all as I would just pull it apart with the loader first. If we were getting a 3 foot storm I’d blow it during the storm just like one must do with a plow. I had a 72” front blower on a NH4835 at work and have many hours in the seat to compare them both in real time...

    Turf to R4

I should have added I use my bucket just a little. Once I get in the cab I have never left it except once in a great when a sheer bolt says enough of these rocks. Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

The Normand shown did not have the rear scraper blade. It’s optional and gravity run. However a hydro option is also available and that is what I bought.
  36. B

    Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

I absolutely love them. Best all around tire for what I do. My drive is not paved but I don’t want chains. The R1’s it came with sucked. I had no interest in 4’s. My work machine (24 years or so) ran turfs and was paved so it’s not a direct comparison.
  37. B

    Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

Normand Inverted 82” owner here. Before retiring had a 72” Provonost front unit on a larger frame same HP tractor. Night and day difference. The Normand is hands down the best attachment I own. Buying Advice Need help with importing a JD 5075E from India to USA.

DON’T DO IT!! My NH4835 at work ended up being a rebadged machine from Fiat (Italy) that developed a transmission problem. The selling dealer was useless in resolving the lack of internal parts availability but was more than willing to sell a new machine with a trade in value that was less...

General opinions on R1 vs. R14 tires?

  53. B

General opinions on R1 vs. R14 tires?

Not exactly true. I replaced the factory R1’s on my JD 4720 with R14 Nokia TRI 2’s on the same rim. Tire shop didn’t have a single issue. R1’s sucked for my lite use and were horrible on ice and snow plus the ride was very rough. I had run nothing but turf tires on an old JD750 and then on a...

    Snowblower for FEL, price, comments?

I had the 72" Provonost version on a NH 4835 (56hp at the shaft) and I was blowing well over a 1/2 mile of pavement as well as a gravel parking area and another gravel drive about 1/4 mile. It worked OK. The Normand inverted on my JD4720 would easily spit out the pieces of the 72". The hydro...

nOOb to chaining down - is this sufficient?

I'm too old school to change now. LOL I'm guessing my binders are going on to 45 years old now long before somebody thought of adding a slot. nOOb to chaining down - is this sufficient?

A single point of attachment (like the drawbar) is NOT going to prevent a diagonal shift of the load and you should also be aware of how a hard braking event is going to react. I almost lost a bulldozer off a trailer behind my Mack one day.

    Really great "carry all".

I'm seriously thinking of a Greenlee or similar type locking job box to hold all my saws, gas and oil and logging straps, chains, cables and snatch block. Can't use the 3PH with the chipper or winch on the rear. I can weld the brackets and pins for the JD quick attach right to the box.
  159. B

John Deere small tractors - best engine oil?

Dealer oil is pretty cheap if you compare it to the cost of an engine. Once you start with a brand and type of oil you should not move away from it unless unavoidable. Mystik Oil is some of the best oil going IMO but Rotella ain't no slouch either.

I true dead center is fit into the headstock of a lathe. A live center is fit into the tailstock. If you want to turn a taper then you offset the tailstock. Of course this was before CNC machines. Our next class will cover centerless grinding. What did I win? LOL

Skid steer snow blower on tractor loader?

No idea on pressure or flow as it was a complete snowblower package from them. The pump is run off a 1:4 speed increaser. It's had a lot of rather heavy use in MA. 162. B

Skid steer snow blower on tractor loader?

Yes. I have a 72" Provonost and the loss of power is substantial and frankly a hindrance. I'd take my JD and the 84" Normand blower in any storm, any any conditions over the NH/Provonost arrangement any day. No questions asked. Both machines are 56 HP at the PTO and the NH is a larger frame.
  163. B

    Tractor is dead...help

My NH 4835 is notorious for a bad ground to the frame. Chased it for a while and got really tired of screwing around. About 4-5 years ago I ground the frame bare, gave it a wad of grease and reattached the ground and covered it all with grease. All better now.

Filling a Hundred Holes (6-feet across, 4-feet deep)
