Need a grapple for my tractor... help me spend some money. :)

Blue Diamond light duty 66 inch double lid . I have been having real good luck with this grapple . Quite pleased . 450 lbs or so . Great for brush , roots and getting logs to the mill. The semi flat bottom makes it good for moving lumber around as well.

Want to buy a sawmill - Talk me out of it!

The wife and I bought a Woodland Mills HM130 max about a year and a half ago to mill lumber for a garage / shop. One of our better purchases by far. Very satisfying milling your own lumber. You wont be disappointed and you likely wont have buyers remorse once you get a taste of milling . Go for...

    Pricing pallet forks

The set of Agriease forks I was after got seriously backordered so I ended up ordering a set of Walco Renegade 3700 lb with 42 inch forks from the same Guy. They were supposed to be 1100 landed but because I had already waited 2 1/2 -3 months he lowered the price by a nice amount for me. Nice...

I dialed my mill in a little bit better on the weekend. When I assembled it I noticed that the rails are ever so slightly different in height from one end to the next. Hi Blue . I have a G3033H that I bought new in the fall of 2014. The only issue I have ever had was that the digital panel messed up a bit . I disconnected the battery and Let the chips/computer ( or whatever it is ) reset itself. That was 5 or 6 years ago and all has been well since. I have...

So what you end up with is a non constipated cookie  . Thoughts On Lining Up Bucket to Front End Loader

The ssqa on my LS tractor is fairly easy to line up once you get used to it. I can see the top but not the sides so I just line up evenly side to side on my levers and come in square. The only thing that I have found is that some things require your loader to be levelled out before the plate...

A lot of my poplar trees are 50-60 feet tall and 12-16 inches at the butt. The first 20 feet or so is pretty much branch free so this will make for a lot of fairly clear lumber. And they grow like weeds so pretty sustainable .

Resetting the rule on a woodland mill saw is really easy. Once the saw head is adjusted to level you simply put the magnetic rule on the metal post and slide it up and down behind the pointer to match the height of the blade off the bunk . I like its simplicity.

I also went with the normal scale on the mill and do the calculations in my head to compensate for the saw cuts as I go. This is what I am used to at my work and I find it works best for me on the sawmill as well.

I may do that because I went to the top a few times simply because the old pointer worked that way. I caught myself before messing up a cut. I may try a bright red line right in the middle before I do that. Just messing around to see what works best for me.

When to plane rough cut lumber?

My experience has been that if you dress dry rough lumber and leave it for a long period before using it , chances are it will move again on you to a degree. Best to simply store it until you need to use it then mill it. What I do with wider wood after dressing is stand it on edge on a bench...

Scratched some dirt away with the backhoe and bucket (added some crushed shale to level with ) then put in the new patio stones and then set the posts . Lots more...

Grappling fun - A Picture Thread....

Well I got the hoses on and routed . It will have to be made more permanent but i was really itching to see how it performed . Grill guard coming soon before I get into any brush! Smaller stumps come up pretty easy . I need to get used to the weight as it comes down a lot quicker than my bucket...

Grappling fun - A Picture Thread....

We picked this up from the freight terminal Friday afternoon . No action shots yet But I am really impressed with how rugged this thing is. Because I never had the bucket off the tractor since I bought it (2014) I had to lube the ssqa a bit . It worked great after that. I was able to mount the...

    Moving some dirt

Time to continue on past the culvert. We started pushing into the woods last week. Dug out a fair amount of stumps and moved a bunch of brush and logs aside. The boss even gave me a hand. She is getting good with the loader ! We have a grapple coming this week and that will easily take care of...

    Backhoe Digging out some stumps

I would love to get a titan bolt on but as far as I can see it is only available in the US. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot available up here that i like. One of these days I will price up the duty, exchange and shipping. Then I will cry and order it :-) Right now I have to worry the big...

    Backhoe  Digging out some stumps

I dug out 12 or so stumps today while clearing land for a new building. Mostly small poplar and spruce but a couple of fair sized maple stumps. Maple (hardest) always takes a while to get loose.

Grapple  New grapple on the way !

We just ordered a Blue Diamond 66" light duty grapple . Should be about 2 weeks for it to get here . I think it will be a long 2 weeks  I need to fashion a grill guard and get a couple of 3/8 " x 14 ' hoses made up and primed. I will run this off the rear remotes. From what i am...

    Moving some dirt

We finally decided to fill in some of the big hole in the back yard a few weeks ago. 11 tandem loads of crushed shale in the hole and 2 on top for working around the yard with. Yesterday I put in a small culvert to get me across to where our garage /shop will go in a few years . now i can easily...

    Woods BSM72P Box Blade

I have some driveway work and land clearing to do this summer and this should fit the bill quite nicely. Now I have to look up the very good box blade tutorial post that is on the site and give it a good read. Super pleased to have this piece of equipment .

    TODAYS SEAT TIME

I finally switched out the backhoe for the snowblower lol . I figure if I had waited any longer mother nature would have taught me a lesson on procrastination. First I had to move the blower out of the way to drop the hoe. Kens hooks are really handy ! I really need more yard space .(...

    falling on ice

My driveway after the ice storm a week ago . Thank goodness the sand is free at the local gov. garages around here . Pretty hairy walking around until I got the sand going . Ice makes for a hard landing ! Managed to stay on my feet though

    Subframe backhoe and top link

When my LS G3033H was delivered The backhoe was on the tractor and the top link was hooked up . The guy that delivered it made a point of telling me to make sure that it stayed good and tight . Check it lots . I saw some pictures not long ago on TBN of a top link sheared in half while connected...

    Lets see your Woodworking Skills

Well I gotta say , there are some pretty hard acts to follow (beautiful work) in this thread but I will throw some pics in here just for the heck of it. I have been working as a custom woodworker since 1985 and it's been good to me . And I am betting that almost every piece of...

    TODAYS SEAT TIME

Not a lot of seat time but I did get in lots of rock raking time ! Not the most fun thing to do but better than running into them this winter when clearing snow . I had 8 or 9 times this amount so I dumped it at the end of the driveway . Every little bit helps when you can use more yard space.

    Snow blower color

Anyone know how close Landini blue is to LS blue ? Puma snow blowers come in this color and New Holland blue . Thanks .

    Good start for a cab

I scored this for next to nothing the other day . It's a new roll cage off a cat forklift . It measures up pretty good for bolt on points but the height will have to be modified for sure . I don't have a shop up yet but when I do this will be my first project . Hopefully it will make a good...

    instrument panel

I got the G3033h out to move some logs this morning and my tachometer display was flashing . Its flashing all zeros then ones ,then twos ect . Fuel and temperature guages do not work either . All other lights and warnings are fine and the tractor is working normal . Nothing much in the manual...

    Hydrostat problem maybe ?

Hi all . Well I got the 3033 out to clear back the snow banks on the driveway today . Warmed it up for 10 minutes and then played in the snow for about 5 minutes . I had the tractor on a slight angle and it started to bog down when I backed up . Looked at the fuel gauge and it was fairly low...

    Bolt on hooks

Hi All . My tractor loader is an LL3102 with a 66 inch bucket. It has a pc of rectangular steel tubing welded on the inside of the top of the bucket from the factory . I was wondering if anyone knew if this was strong enough by itself for bolt on hooks without welding steel across the top? Seems...

    Licence plate

Ok , I am going to open myself up for some good old fashioned ribbing here  I have had the licence plate for the tractor since last week and I can't see an obvious place for it to bolt on . I even went so far as to look at pics on the web and nothing . Not a thing in the manual either...

Backhoe  New LS G3033H owner :-)

Hi all . We just bought this tractor a week ago Friday. Awesome machine . I have never owned a tractor before but this does lots more that I expected. We got it for snow removal and clearing our treed property . Up here in New Brunswick Canada we tend to get lots of snow . I have a backhoe...
