    My solution to yellow jackets isn't quite so elegant. I wait until it gets nearly dark outside so they return to their nest then put an old shop rag over the end of a stick and stuff it into the hole they dug. I then pour a cup full of diesel on the rag and light it. It's not pretty but it works.

    Check all of those fuel hoses for a leak. My B7500 had a very small split in the hose between the lift pump and injector pump which caused it to suck air into the injectors. Your B2650 has a bit different fuel line setup, but a leak anywhere in those hoses can cause problems.

    There is a danger of getting metal filings in the hydraulic oil by re-threading. If you can find a replacement plug you should probably use some Teflon thread seal tape on it to get a good seal.

    You will need to shut off the fuel supply to the engine. Without knowing what model you have I can't tell you the easiest way, but if you can't activate the fuel shutoff manually then removing the fuel filter comes to mind. Another possibility is to shut of the air into the air cleaner.

    What you describe is basically normal operation for a Bendix style starter. The gear requires a load from the initial acceleration or from the flywheel ring gear to keep the spring compressed. Without a load the pinion gear will return to the retracted position.

    Apparently the first 4 digits (1274-2140) are the lot numbers and the last 3 digits (425) are the plant that manufactured them. If you have any lot numbers within that range I suggest you toss them.

    If you can't find anything locally, Amazon has 1/2-13 x 4 stainless carriage bolts with nuts and washers for $1.70 each in a ten pack. That's not as cheap as TSC, but better than the big box stores.
