Hi all,

I just got back from Lowes where I purchased a splitter for my outdoor hose bib. The thing leaks like no tomorrow.
I hand tightened it the best I could, but it leaked. I tightened it with a wrench, and it still leaked. I replaced the gasket with a new one, and it still leaked.
I checked out the end of the bib and there seems to be no problem with that either. Seems everything I attach to it leaks.

Do you think the bib is bad, or just the stuff I am trying to connect? Any quality products for hose connections out there?

This is the leaky little gem I bought.

Thanks
Dave

I have several of those from both Lowes and Home Depot. I have never had any problem with them. Maybe Lowes would allow you to return it for a new one?

Put a nozzle on the outdoor hose bib and see if it leaks with the nozzle turned off.

Did it come with a washer in the faucet end? If not install one. All that stuff is 100% Chineseum today.

@dj1701 I have had trouble with some of the splitters that I have bought until I replaced, or added an extra, gasket. On some, the original gasket was undersized (metric?), thin, and often leaked as a result.

These days, I know what my needs are, and I have taken to plumbing in multiple 3/4" ball valves with GHT adapters on them where I need multiple flows. The splitters generally have very small diameter openings that cut into the max flow possible for me, especially as my water pressure runs around 20-25psi at the taps.

All the best,

Peter

Agreed, the supplied washers seem to be undersized. I throw them away and put a rubber washer in there....the kind you have to fight with to get it fully seated. Problem resolved.

Sounds like a "bib" issue to me..
