Verizon, AT&T and their hangers-on. . . terrain-wise, we are in a very “folded” topography, and a lot of pine needles to interfere as well. ALLEGEDLY we are getting fiber. . . But the “allegedly” has been for more years than we have been here. . .

The white gas version will work in lower temperatures than propane stoves/lanterns will, and sometimes, even if you get the propane to light, the evaporation in the tank will drop the temp enough that it won’t evaporate anymore, even if there is no regulator.

Yep. and that part about Glock saying not to use it? I learned about it in my first Glock Factory Armorer Course. It is a wink-wink-nudge-nudge “DO NOT DO THIS” for liability reasons. and the best part is if you do not like the results, you can just reinstall the original parts and go back...

Apropos of nothing whatsoever, as a former Glock Armorer for a state-level LE agency, IMNSHO the two best upgrades you can do on a Glock are: 1)installing the 8lb New York Trigger Spring and the 3.5lb connector - it gives the stock 5.5lb pull BUT removes all the creep, so you get a great trigger...

Yeah, that is how mine started the first time - it felt like someone had duct-taped a triangular rock right in the middle of my heel. I trated mainly with stretching and rolling a golf ball under my foot. It would come and go over the years, but it was manageable once I knew how to handle it...

One of the things that can be very important is whether it is a mechanical thermostatic operation or electrical. power outages do happen, after all. Our stove is straight manual, and, once you figure out the idiotsyncracies (which you need to do with ANY stove), running fully manual is not...

It really helps! I just used rigid dryer vent tube, a couple elbows, a 4” hole saw, and a hammer&chisel to bust through the block foundation. I also fashioned a big screen/spark arrestor out of aluminum mesh window screen.
  96. KilroyJC

    Good morning!!!!

I forgot to mention that I also added outside air intake, which greatly reduces drafts because the fire is consuming air fed by a pipe which comes into the foundation, up through the floor, and into the back of the stove. Well worth the extra effort!

If it's cold where you live, what are you heating with and what is it costing?

Our total monthly electric bill averages about $110/month. We have a 2-zone heat pump system, which we absolutely HATE heating with. Poplar is the most common tree on our woodlot, followed by pines. there is one poplar I am eyeballing that could potentially supply most of not all the lumber I need to build my sawmill shed, I just need to clear enough to get to it with the tractor after felling. the poplars here are mostly...

I found a water pressure gauge at a flea market, so I bought it for $3 (I think that was pretty good) and measured 62PSI, which comes out to roughly 140’ of head. Even if it is off 20%, it comes out to a minimum of 100’ish feet of head, so that is pretty good for potential micro hydro. I may...

The parking brake on my tractor is pretty much useless.
