25 Acres worth buying hay equipment?

I am way out of the loop on large baling equipment and costs. I do know that I have a friend who does a lot of haying, and his large round baler broke right in the peak of haying season. The repair cost him $7,000. There are always breakdowns, you only have a small window of time when you can...

Buying Advice LS vs TYM vs Kioti

Yanmar farm tractors by model (Tractordata.com) The Yanmar was founded in Japan in 1912. The firm has a long history with small diesel engines. The agricultural equipment division of the company was started in 1961. Yanmar entered into an arrangement with John Deere and began building...

Buying Advice LS vs TYM vs Kioti

Yanmar has been making great tractors for years, just not under their own name. They are new to the US (again) and establishing their dealer network. I hope they grow fast and strong.

It's not so much a predator, as it is the goats rustling around when they're frighted. My neighbor has sheeep, and all the walls of their sheds are bulged out because they "bunch up".

Your comfort on a step ladder is impressive (top step?) Have you thought about adding an inside wall about half way up to prevent the goats from pushing out the siding?

'Professional' grade saws vs. 'Homeowner' saws

I have a couple of Pro Husqvarnas with modded mufflers. I like them a lot but not the cost of new. I have a used top handle Echo, and a woods ported Echo CS4910. I like the light weight, performance, quality and price of the Echos.

So, it's too late to start a pool about how long before the goats break out of the fence. Should we start a new one? How long before the goats get into the orchard? How long before they jump on the side of a car? how long before you question the wisdom of getting goats?

    1978 John Deere 850 Questions

I owned a John Deere 850. Very solid tractor. If it has power steering, just make sure it is functioning properly. Those parts can be hard to find and spendy. I don't worry about any CUT with less than 4,000 hours.

How do I create a level grade with a landscape rake (LR1684) & gauge wheels?

That's good advice. I think I'd set the downhill side slightly lower with your 3 pt arm, and then make multiple passes. Keep your gauge wheels. They're great.

Better drill for hard use? Milwaukee M18 "2904" or ...?

I have had great luck with the M18 tools and batteries. I have the lighter duty 1/2" hammer drill/driver. My only (minor) complaint is that the lowest wetting on the impact driver is kinda high. H have dropped these tools from 10' on concrete way more than I should and they have always...

    Front Tire Puncture Question

My neighbor put a gash in the front tire of his 95 hp 4wd Kubota (from an antler?). He got some magic sidewall repair goop from his Kubota dealer. 2 years later, still no leak. If you had told me you could seal a 3/8" gap in a sidewall, I wouldn't have believed it, but I saw it with my own eyes.
