As far as your question Hay Dude, I can't help you there. I don't have any experience with those smaller engines. I only ran class 8 stuff. Those engines are pretty much like the 13 litre Maxxforce engines....a solid engine block with a horrible mass EGR emission system bolted on.

Personally I would not. The quick hitch moves the backhoe that much further out and creates even more leverage working on your tractor. And three point mount backhoes already to put a lot of stress on the tractor to begin with.

As far as stuff to check, at 300 hours it's still pretty new. Just look for signs of abuse, how the fluid's looks, ask how many services it has had, answer should be at least two. 50 hour and 200 hour. And take it for a ride and make sure hydro works okay. These models have next to none hydro whine.

Kubota tractors are the only hydro's I have owned. So I don't know any different. So I'm used to it. All my other tractors are gear. I actually wish Kubota would have put a forward/reverse pedal in the RTV's instead of a shift lever. Would have made it so much nicer for plowing.

I ended up axle weighing both tractors at the MTO (DOT) scales. Where it says truck is both the steer and drive axle on plate, but since these scales only axle weigh big rigs, may not be 100% accurate as both my axles were right on the edges of the plate due to length of my truck.

Nice! I love the D series. And such nice styling. I won't deny, I prefer the loaders on new modern tractors over the old ones. But as far as the old tractors.....I'll take those any day over new ones. I'm not in to paying $100,000 for a cup holder and a stereo, I'll take simple reliability.

Having jack legs on the rear like other have shown is great. But I don't have them so I always carry some wood block with me. just remember to keep them shorter than need so when loading and you get weight on trailer you can get them out.

I see you are in the U.S., but a good lab should be able to help you. I use Toromont Cat to do mine, and they gave me a book that deciphers everything for you so you can learn what you are looking at. They will also alert you when they see a problem and explain to you what it is.

Everything came apart perfect! Now, what everyone's opinion.....RTV silicone on gasket surfaces with the new gaskets or no?

Turns out water pump is okay. It's the thermostat housing gasket that was leaking, but no way to see it until I pulled it all apart. But going to replace everything at this point.

Finally had time today to work on Allis. I got a new water pump from Steve@B&B and I got the tins stripped off, rad out, everything good so far. But before I go any further and screw anything up, how do I get this pulley off the water pump? Do I have to remove those nuts? I have never seen one...

I think they are equally good. Iseki has been manufacturing compact tractors for Massey Ferguson for many many years, and Shibaura built all the Ford and New Holland compacts up until I think 2013? Maybe a little longer before they switched to LS?
