    Insurance - Used Tractor

The only reason I have insurance on my tractor is because it was required for the loan and I'm not sure I'm going to keep it insured when the loan is paid off. I had to add it to my homeowner policy and it covers anything that could possibly happen to it including a rollover. I guess I have to...

    Would a loader for a gc1725/1723 fit on a gc1705?

This is one of the things that drew me to my decision to purchase the GC, they were on the market for 17 years when I got mine and 90% of the major parts are the same. There are some differences, but the important stuff has not changed. I was looking for longevity, I plan to have mine the rest...

    Would a loader for a gc1725/1723 fit on a gc1705?

Does the tractor already have all of the hydraulics set up for the loader? Valves and whatnot. I think the discussion I remember about this was the it would require more than just adding the loader. There was also the loader frame and they had to add the needed hydraulic valves and stuff because...

The newer model number are 1723E/1725M = no BH 1723EB/1725MB = BH The 1705 had the DL95 FEL, The newer models would have the FL1805 FEL. I have no idea if the newer FEL will work on the older models. I do know that from pictures I have seen that there appears to be differences in the FEL...

What have you done with/to your GC Series 2300, 2400, 1700 Tractor TODAY

This is what I bought, I did some research at the time on the companies site and there's nothing in it that should hurt anything. I was always for the most part able to see the difference in the glass, the dye just makes it a little easier and allows me to see the fluid/level in very low light conditions, like at 4AM when I have just 2x60W bulbs for light in my shed.

I use red die and it only takes a few drops, maybe 10 to make the fluid pink/dark enough to see easily. I forget what it is but I picked it up on amazon. Probably have enough to last me 20 years at 10 drops a change even if I changed it every year.

    Any maple syrup makers?

If mid Feb is normal for the sap to start running there I would definitely be tapping now. But I guess that also depends on how long it takes you to tab. Tractor Died While Blowing Snow!

When I was looking (in the spring/summer) I could not find any locally. Seems that most of the places I looked restock in the fall. So I had to order it online. I read that as long as it's sealed it will not go bad so I ordered a case. Pretty sure I have enough to last me about 10 years.

Oil & Fuel Cold rookie mistake

I was curious. The fuel pump on my tractor lists that it pumps 0.1 GPM continuously. That works out to 6 GPH. My fuel consumption is in the range of 0.5 to 1.0 GPH. That means 5 to 5.5 GPH is going back to the tank. That's more than 90% being circulated back to the tank. On my tractor the...

    tire chain questions

Snowblower Woods SS74 snowblower bad performance

    Underground electric/drainage question

PVC is required here as well, and it also needs to be sealed with PVC cement, so actually water getting into the line should not be an issue of you seal it. But stone is not required, just the warning tape above it. This is what they did when they buried the line from my solar array to the...

    Underground electric/drainage question

That's what I was thinking when I read OP. Might help drain the area but it won't affect anything below the level of the pipe. The drain pipe would need to be below it.

    13 + 2 + 75 = 9

Exactly, I have been driving and had a front tire blow. It was only luck that I was the only one on the road. I also had a ball joint give on a car once. That time is was luck it was on the passenger side and I went into a ditch instead of oncoming traffic. You don't have any control, so I...

    13 + 2 + 75 = 9

To me, the only reason to mention that it was a spare that it was obviously a spare, which means it was one of those crap donuts that's just suppose to let you limp home.

    13 + 2 + 75 = 9

What I heard on the news was that it was one of those spares that's only safe to 45MPH. I'm one of those people that started driving when I was young, maybe 12. But I never drove on a public road. We had a lot of logging roads where I grew up all with signs that said things like: this is not a...

What have you done with/to your GC Series 2300, 2400, 1700 Tractor TODAY

Moving snow on sunday was bad. The ground under the snow was muddy because it was so warm the week before. Put chunks of my lawn through the blower. The thing will chew through anything. I guess the next thing I'll actually be doing is replacing my divots and spreading grass seed.

What have you done with/to your GC Series 2300, 2400, 1700 Tractor TODAY

Nothing. Nothing since Sunday's snow and if I'm lucky nothing until May when I pull off the bucket, blower and chains, change the fluids and put on the mower for the summer. I get to relax for a month or so till the mud goes away.

The high cost of cutting grass

Nothing I can do about the Gas, gotta buy what I gotta buy. I filled all of my diesel containers a couple weeks ago and with the light winter we've had, if it continues to do the same, I should have enough fuel for my tractor to last until I get ready for next winter.

    Car Accident Question

When my son was in a wreck he did have rental insurance, but it only covers so many days. He had the rental for 4 or 5 times the time he was covered for and did not pay a dime. I can only assume that his insurance company got the rest from the other driver's insurance. But like others have...

    Gc1725m tire chains

I was just looking at the ones on amazon and trying to figure out differences. The Bro-Tek spacers are also "hub-centric" (made to fit the GC). There is also more metal between the lugs bolts/holes and the inside/outside of the spacer than the less expensive ones, there is 1.5# more metal in...

    Gc1725m tire chains

My chains were more expensive than the bro-tek spacers.

    Snowblower problem

Like others have said. I used to have a blower with a pin on each side of the auger. The bolt could distort a bit when it broke causing the ends to stay in place. Was fooled the first time this happened to me as well thinking WTF did I break.

    Gc1725m tire chains

My dealer told me the same thing, they also told me the wheels could be flipped. These small tractors are not the bread an butter of the dealer. I would trust them to fix it if something went wrong but I don't think the service dept does a lot of work on them otherwise. I also take it with a...

The high cost of cutting grass

I have only been mowing my "lawn" every couple of weeks for a long time, partly due to the cost of cutting it. It's not that I worry about the cost as much as I don't see the point of spending all that money. In addition to not cutting is as often, cut it at the top setting on your mower when...
