Happy Sunday morning to everyone!

My YM2500 is still down and waiting on Fredricks to come pick it up again, but I’m slowly starting acquire attachments for it.

I recently bought a solid, used grader box (box blade). It’s a 4’ Howse EB48. Got an excellent deal on it locally!
It didn’t come with the scarifier shanks but I ordered a brand new set online from Agri Supply. They are 16” long and fit perfect! I also ordered new shank holder pins.
I do believe the tractor would handle a 5’ grader box, but I got too good of a deal on this 4’ to pass up.

I also bought an old vintage set of single row hippers (row discs). I’m almost positive they’re John Deere. They need a little work but I got such a killer deal on them that I just couldn’t pass up. I plan on making a small garden with my family. We all love that delicious G90 sweet corn! 🌽.
I ordered a new axle shaft with nut, (6) new 16” notched disc blades, a new bumper washer, and a new end washer with lock ring. The 4 bearings are good and just need a good greasing. They each have their own grease fitting.
I got all the parts online from Agri Supply. They should be delivered by UPS sometime this coming week.

If you think you know anything about the row discs, please let me know! I’d love to know what model they are and what bearings they take (for when I need to replace the bearings).

The disc harrow seems old and beaten. Hope it was given to you vs buying it.

Bret, the row discs I bought are not the same as your brother’s. Mine are made to build rows. I will post pics when I’m done with them. They will be worth much more than what I paid once I get the new axle shaft and new discs installed, but they won’t be for sale.

I made an upgrade to the Howse box blade that I recently bought. Seen a video of someone on YouTube who done the same thing. I copied what the man done.
I installed 4 pieces of 1/16” stainless steel wire on the shank holder pins to keep from losing them if they fall out. I bought the wire spool & crimper kit off Amazon for $30.

It's crude, but looks very effective. Can you have another additional gang put in the middle?

Those are the root snapping and rock raising discs.
I have those as the first row, 2 gangs on my KK disc harrow. They are amazing.
The second row, 2 gangs are all smooth.

I noticed yours notched disks are facing inwards vs the normal setup facing outwards. hmmm

OK, You are making rows, the reason why they are turned inwards. Got it now. (y)

[I should of scrolled back first and reread. ]

The Good Lord blessed me yesterday, (04-29-2026 Wednesday)! I drove to my closest Co-Op (about an hour away) and picked up a new King Kutter 3 pt. One Row Cultivator! It’s not the best cultivator on the market, but it will suit my needs well for what I’ll be doing. I gave $395 + tax, for a total of $436.50.
It was the only one they had on the lot at this price. I was going to buy a Tarter/CountyLine cultivator from Tractor Supply Co. for $500 + tax, but found the King Kutter at a much better price and they’re basically built the same. Plus King Kutter has been around for 48 years.
I also ordered (6) Nichols Ultra Wing Row Crop Sweeps for it from Agri Supply online. (2) 10” sweeps, (2) 8” sweeps, and (2) 6” sweeps. They will bolt directly up to the cultivator, using the existing mounting hardware that came with the cultivator (12) 7/16” plow bolts.

If you work the KK tools too hard, they will snap their welds. :cautious:
The reason why they are low-cost (cheap). LOL

After 9 years of use, 14 welds broke away.
KK paint is so-so, they use no primer.
I too order and have things shipped from ASC (Agri Supply Co)

I have other KK attachments too.

As for the Row Cultivator, I was blessed with one at the end of Fall last year. It needs lots of TLC. I'll need to have a 3-point CAT-1 made for it too.

Hey Bret!
This is the 3rd KK implement that I’ve purchased in my life. I agree about the welds. I have several professional welders who can repair anything if needed, including my brother. I like that old David Bradley cultivator you have.

I found the manual for the old David Bradley crank cultivator on another tractor forum. It can be long and narrow or wide and fat. The segments hinge. Thus, it can be made to follow behind a CUT size tractor.

Like everything, finding the time to do all of the repairs in life and the resources are the drawbacks. The rewards are amazing once done.

I had restored a Brinly cultivator a few years ago from nearly and got $300 for it. But the time and labor into it, I basically broke even.

The tires were upgraded and it tracks better in the soil vs the OE hard wheels.
The person drove almost 2hrs one way to come for it.

It's too small for my machine, but a GT tractor or a Cub Cadet is perfect.

I thought at first this would be a retirement side hustle to find, restore and sell older tractor attachments. But, it's proven not to be the case. Took 2 months to sell it. And I live in a reasonable well Ag area.

I like the spikes. Fredricks supplied dealer Decades ago KK. BB. and the Pressed tips broke off easily. I did repair and weld them in place. The new tips NA. no doubt if they broke again how I would replace them. Grading Crush & Run Gravel Rd. was rough on them new.

I got the Nichols Ultra Wing sweeps installed yesterday. I cut the inner halves off of the 6” sweeps because I didn’t want to get too close to the plants when cultivating.

Thats a nice setup.

My trick is, plant rows 36 to 40 inches apart. Then I can mow between them easily. Feed the scraps to the goats or do mulch allowing the cuttings to keep the moisture around the crops during a heat-wave.
