Massy Ferguson GC 2300
Having hydraulic problems I was looking for answers and some questions about changing the pump and the gear in the transmission I was using it about a month ago and I dumped the bucket and the bucket wouldn't come back it wouldn't go back to from the dump mode and it was stuck up about 4 ft off the ground and I lost motor functions in the power steering so I figured it would be the hydraulic pump I just did a few oil change and check the screen just in case that didn't solve anything so my guess is I ordered a new pump and gear and now I'm going to do the pump and very good with mechanics so I don't see a problem with it it's just a big job because there's a lot of things you have to take off any pointers on it would be very appreciated

Good morning, and Welcome from the Ozarks!

Where about do you live? (State or country?)

Do you have the service manual?

I know @dicktill knows a lot about the hydraulics on the slightly newer versions, maybe he could shed some light ...

I have the newer version of yours, mines a GC 1725 MB .. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, but you could maybe poke around in this section to get help ... https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/massey-ferguson-owning-operating/

I know you now must first post in this area, not sure how long before you could ask your questions in the Massey Ferguson area ...

Welcome to TBN and our informal GC group.

You will find my lengthy thread on GC hydraulics here: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...n-gc-1723-1725-hydraulics-are-plumbed.476917/

I'm attaching a couple of photos "sort of" showing the pump under the control valve - it's where you can see some socket-head cap screws.

You said you ordered a pump and gear: what gear?

As for taking apart stuff to get to the pump, I'm not quite sure as our later GC models have a one-piece plastic rear fender assembly and I think the earlier ones like yours have multi-piece metal fenders. That may possibly mean that you don't have to remove the ROPS to get to the pump. Good luck and let us know what you find.

I suspect he is referring to the drive gear for the hydraulic pump.

Older models were built with a pump that did not make enough contact with the drive gear and would shear off.

MF did not do the right thing and recall them. They covered it if it failed under warranty, and ran out the clock on the rest.
