Figured I'd post a review for anyone interested in an RTV for snow removal. I'm on winter number 5 using it, and my second winter with the snow blower on it.
I originally went with the Boss 6.6 Power Vee XT because I was disgusted by the price Kubota wanted for their K-Connect and blower.
It handled the Boss plow perfectly and did a good job. Never had traction issues and it would push anything in front of it. Other plusses for the Boss plow.....it's simple, simple to maintain, and comes on and off very easy. And when off, you loose no ground clearance at all.
Now two winters ago, I decided to buy my wife the K-Connect and blower, thinking that if I'm not home, it is easier for her to use a snow blower over a plow. Yes, the price is still disgusting, but after using everything from tractors to my F550 with Boss vee plow, this RTV is the most awesome thing there is for snow removal! I have never cleared snow as comfortably as with this RTV.
1. It is maneuverable, visibility can't be beat.
2. I can't believe how far it throws snow for so little horsepower. Even when it's wet liquid slop.
3. It powers through snow full blower width and over the height of the blower. I haven't had it power out yet.
Now the bad points:
1. It's extremely complex. I dread the day I start having issues with it. Lots of electronics, wiring and moving parts. Even the RTV is way more complex than I feel it needs to be.
2. Lots of maintenance points. U-joints, pillow blocks, and three more gear box oils to maintain.
3. You lose ground clearance since it is way to complex to remove the driveline in summer. So while I can still use my RTV around the yard as a dump truck, I no longer go trail riding with it, because it now only has 5 or 6 inches of clearance and that K-Connect is way too expensive to risk damage.
Hope this helps anyone thinking about purchasing one.
