We have had 180 inches in Keweenaw County as of 1-24-26.
We did but ended up selling that property (too small) and buying another property again, near Hayward. I now have 8 acres to play with. The snowmobile trail is about a half mile from the house so I don't have to trailer. That is a huge plus.Didn't you buy property near Hayward WI?
You could stay at our camp if you like? Not sure you are following our "camp found" thread but its "snow machine access only" location. How is the snow at Hayward now?We did but ended up selling that property (too small) and buying another property again, near Hayward. I now have 8 acres to play with. Haward gets, and keeps, a lot more snow than SE Minnesota but still not close to what the UP gets. And they still get the occasional warm up periods and some rain.
Perhaps 200 inches of snow each year might overwhelm me and perhaps after one winter I might ask myself, "what was I thinking". But since winter is my favorite season I would like to experience it.
Maybe I should find a place to rent from a UP resident who skips town to avoid the snow for winter.
It takes much time and cool weather to get its temps down. I believe the lake was record warm this fall and that might be why we are seeing near record snow fall on the south shore..A lot of open water.
Went fishing Saturday, was surprised at how mushy the ice was in places. Should firm up by next weekend. It takes much time and cool weather to get its temps down. I believe the lake was record warm this fall and that might be why we are seeing near record snow fall on the south shore..![]()
