I have a Silky pole saw unit that is 20 plus feet fully extended.
Can't find that product online but here is a similar one.

Here might be a reason people "get all worked up", to use your words. Just maybe those first responders are tired of having to come rescue you from your stupidity. May the rest are tired of having their tax dollars subsidize your medical bills when you are in hospital at the tune of 50K a day or even more and you run out of money and insurance. Maybe they are tired of you being on SSDI for the rest of your life sucking the lifeblood out of the system so that it is running out of money because of all the SSDI recipients who have put practically nothing in to the system but pull out of it due to stupid acts that keep them permanently disabled from their own stupid acts. Accidents happen but when you go out and take actions that defy any safety concept then people have every right to be critical of your acts. Don't post stupid acts and we won't know that you are being stupid.

whoa, sounds like you have some resentments, but overall, i agree of thinking ahead before an accident happens.

Another call, a couple guys had to be the first on the lake to ice fish, they went through the ice, we risked our lives for 20 minutes dragging and looking for a person, luckily one of the accesses to the lake was at a bar, fire trucks didn’t go on the ice so they were talking with the bar owner and found out the guys made it out and were in the bar drinking.

Or the drunk guy you are using the jaws of life to cut him out of a car and he is cussing us out like it is our fault he crashed his car.

My reply to the above people who quoted me ... If people are responsible for there own actions, and take accountability for there actions . . . It would be a much better world ...

I've never called a so called first responder for any help, I pay my own bills, I make my own decisions on how I want to do things, and don't mind if everyone else does the same, while I don't believe in darwinism, I do believe that the theory of a "darwin award" is appropriate for people who do stupid things ... If someone wants to volunteer to save them, so they can try it again or something else stupid that's up to the volunteer!

Same with this narcan to save druggies ... Just let them get the full effect of there stupid decisions!

Nor do I believe that it's societies job, or responsibility to save all the idiots from themselves.

Here's a guy strapped to a tree using a chain saw ... While he is not likely to fall very far ... He can still get cut, and bleed out up there ... Yes, he appears to be a "trained professional"!

Life is full of decisions and lots of dangerous things in our world can injure or even kill us!

Tractors are DANGEROUS! But we all have them.

Cars are too ... Same, same!

Food poisoning is dangerous ... Usually occurs from eating out ... Don't go out to eat in your dangerous car!

Slipping in the shower ... Bad balance, slippery floor ... Lots of broken hips and wrists ...

Just climbing a ladder to change a light bulb ... You could fall and bump your noggin!

Wood stoves could cause carbon monoxide or burn your house down ... But it's "free heat" from your trees out back that you used your dangerous chainsaw to cut, and your dangerous log splitter to split, and your dangerous tractor to haul ... Oh my, why not just move to Florida and get eaten by a alligator!

Problem is the judicial and political powers that be will not allow us to look at the person that just played blackjack with Darwin and say "bye bye", just die and go away. Society has to take care of them. Society is another word for your tax dollars and SSDI and insurance rates.
Accidents happen as I posted, but this here "hold my beer and watch" that is so prevalent is just wrong. Don't even think for a second that other folk's actions or your actions do not have impact on the rest of society because they do, for good or bad, they just do.
Accidents will happen unless you never do anything but accidents that happen needlessly because you take actions that even you know are sketchy are not good. And unless you are just flat dumb you know when you are taking unnecessary risks. You have kids and a wife/husband think of them before you act.

And the whole point of this thread was the OP showed a away that he was using his tractor to help him ... He never said anything to the effect of "I'm kinda new at this, is this the best way to do it?"

Neither did I or the other guy that posted using his loader with a picture ...

Yes, I see accidents everyday ... Will it cause my insurance or taxes to go up, yes, probably will ... But what's crying about it on a forum gonna do?

Who knows ... The OP may be in the hospital at this very moment from falling off his ladder or cut himself ... That's his problem and I doubt anything anyone says will cause him to change his tree trimming process ...

I've found that when giving advise when asked goes along ways, but otherwise I'm usually wasting my breath ... People tend to do what they want, I just wish more would be willing to be held accountable for there actions!

I have done a lot of things that most would consider risky: cutting trees while on ladders, etc.--my crowing achievement was jumping one building to another to keep someone from jumping off...what was I thinking?!?!?!--and I lived through it all. Now, I try to keep both feet on something solid. for pruning trees like that, I've rented a portable lift--yes, I'm big on renting things that make my life easier. A few hours in a lift if a joy compared to juggling ladders, and a lot safter...though I like the ingenuity of the tractor mounted ladder. It does look stable.

sounds like you have an axe to grind. please explain your resentment of society addressing sometimes foolish & dangerous actions of others. by nature, we make mistakes, what is your point and solution to addressing emergencies of others within our first responder system? blaming government while they bleed? regards

Good on you! I hate going up a ladder leaned against a tree, which way is it going to slide and spin me off. This looks as safe as you can get with what you have. Nothing can move ,no creeping hydraulic, ladder stabilized, I'm not sure what the fuss is about??
