I came across this searching for MF 4707 specs: Massey Ferguson 4707 Tractor Data: Specs, Review, Problems
the $20k price difference is probably the biggest motive, but later down the line, being able to haul it with less truck + trailer could be helpfulThe only advantage of the smaller one is the fact it’s smaller. Is more maneuverable important to you? Is there a building you will keep it in that is size limited? A trailer and truck size limit you have?
So, without knowing more, I haven't heard anything that dictates you move to the 4707.the $20k price difference is probably the biggest motive, but later down the line, being able to haul it with less truck + trailer could be helpful
Although physically the same size, the 2M60, or 2860M, has 10hp more, and the power shuttle is putting 47Hp to the PTO. It has pretty good hydralic flow.I'm in central Virginia. The stumps and slash are all loblolly pine...so, soft wood and shallow roots. I've thought about renting or hiring out some of the heavy duty work, but I'm not clearing everything, just trails and food plots. I'm also not 100% locked in on exactly what I want to do and I don't want to be rushed by the deadline of a rental. I kinda just want to go out there and ride around and do stuff at my own pace.
I'm also shopping a 5075e, but it's almost the same price as the 4707 but with significantly less capability. The Deere dealer network is definitely stronger, but Massey has two shops within a reasonable distance.
I went and drove them all today. My gut feeling is that the 2M.50 isn't big enough but the 5075e and the 4707 are. I talked to the mechanics at both places. Both good dudes.
Backhoes and skidsteers near me are really pricey new or really beat up used. Also, my inner 5 year old just wants a tractor to play with.
