What is this part and function?

Cruise control on a tractor. That seems weird when the engine is governed anyway, but perhaps with these auto boxes there's no longer a direct relationship between engine RPM and ground speed as one would have with a manual transmission?

Correct for a HST ... Ground speed is mostly set by the forward pedal/CC, but to get maximum speed, you need high engine RPM too ...

Kubota 3410 HST. I am replacing my rear tires. I took them off to take to tire dealer to have the new ones mounted. While they were off, I cleaned things up a bit and this part (see photo) caught my attention. I could not tell what it did, and the very intentional-looking lever-like device with teeth did not seem to relate to any other part. However, it also seemed bent outward a bit and that may be why I cannot see what it is to connect to or function with. I played around with other functional levers on the deck to see if anything moved there, but none seem to affect this part. I will pick up the new tires in a day or two but before I remount the new tires, I thought I should learn something about this part - given that it may be bent.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am prepared to be embarrassed by something I should know but do not. And BTW, I also found a couple of missing bolts on another part that I would not have easily seen with the tires on.
I venture to say it is a parking brake assembly. A very important part of your tractor operation. I might be wrong. Call your dealer and ask to them to review the picture you posted along with model number

That sounds about right. Thanks. Very poor quality parts diagram.

Cruise control is used when working in a large field so you can set it a speed and you can take your foot off the pedal as you do with a manual transmission. I mow 10 acres of pasture along with 4 acres of yard. I'd be a fool if I didn't use the cruise control when practical.
