New 25hp tractor purchase

Quite a lot of 25 HP HST tractors only have a 2 range transmission, but PTO HP is the same ...

Because a compact tractor, with 25 HP non-turbo engine, and HST transmission has NO power. It's miserable. I took mine back same month I bought it determined to either go up to 40 HP HST or swap to a stick shifter. Thankfully dealer was willing to play ball and move me up to a 40 HP HST. Even this one struggles in high range with the FEL and an implement on the back, but it gets the job done.

My last dry clutch tractor had 2000 hours and counting with no clutch work done to it when I traded it off. And we beat on that poor tractor hard for years.

That's really the 25hp, no that much the HST. Maybe you're losing 3hp to the ground, but not 10. I think i have commented several times that I should have got the 35ho version rather than the 25hp, but a gear shuttle wouldn't really change the end result.

I suppose it all depends on your intended use. I have a 25HP Kubota 2502 that I use on my 20 acres mostly for logging and firewood use. I also run a 5' tiller for garden and foot plots, and dug out for a large 21x43' pool. I even cleaned out and lined a pond with around 60 tons of clay. I have never once needed anything more than my 25HP HST tractor for any of this. If I was bush hogging 20 acres of chest high brush regularly, I may want more than 25HP but for MY uses, it does perfectly fine. I had considered a grand L or even an MX when I was buying but opted to stay under the emissions threshold and buy a 25HP tractor. Never once have I regretted my decision, this 2502 is a very capable machine.

My biggest reason for getting my Grand L was tire size ... My SCUT was beating me up too bad on my back pasture ... With the bigger tires, came a bigger engine, plus a cab ... So I now mow with a 90" finish mower, instead of a 56" brush hog ...

Bigger tires equal more comfort, I now mow 5-6 mph, instead of 3 mph ... Not quite a third of the time to mow now ... Actually burns less fuel over mowing all 14 acres!

So, I have the Ck2610 HST, and I absolutely have ran out of HP at times. To do certain things, you need a certain speed, so, just doing it in low doesnt work. Even down to climbjng/backing out of a deep ramped cut, yes, need power, traction, and speed, as low doesn't give you any momentum. Pulling a 7 ft chisel/field cultivator/all purpose plow. 6 ft box blade, filled, you can loose power before you loose traction; but you dont want to run a box blade in Low either.

So, yes, someone will rightly point out, your trying to do too much with too little of machine, and that is correct; but to say 25hp isnt a limitation, is also incorrect

My tractor never leaves low, I think in two years I have been out of low one time and that was to drive to the hydraulics shop a 4 miles down the road. I only use a 5' box blade and no amount of dirt in it will stop my tractor or even slow it down, it will spin the tires before it will stop the tractor. When building my pond, the 12' sides seemed nearly vertical and my 25HP climbed them with ease forward or reverse. And running my 5' king kutter in the thick red clay has been no problem. But again, I never leave low.... If I was in a hurry and wanted to be in a higher speed, I very well may run out of power, but I don't have that problem. I have yet come to a task where I needed more HP.

25hp is plenty depending on the tractor. Mine is a smaller compact so 25 hp is all it needs. I can see the larger ones being a little low on hp but it all depends on how you use it.

Have you considered a used Kubota L2501? I see them all the time for sale around me with around 100 hours for 16-$17k. I would buy a used L2501 over a new TYM any day.

The TYM technical specs show the T264 loader will lift 1380 lbs. I wouldn't want to lift more than that as the tractor, mounting frame, loader, and bucket only weighs 2564 lbs.

So I looked at a Bobcat CT2025 HST today. Thought it was comparable to CK2620. If it was, it doesn't seem to be anymore. The salesman said they weren't the same tractor anymore, and according to the specs he gave me, they must not be. It was definitely bigger than I want. And as some have mentioned, it doesn't seem to have as good of specs as the Kioti, but the dealer is a couple miles from me, so I thought why not check it out. Now I'm wondering if the CK will be bigger than I want.

One thing I really having trouble with is realistically comparing specs. Every manufacturer seems to "label" specs differently and tractors of similar size have drastically different numbers on what seems to be the same spec. When a "smaller" tractor shows significantly higher capability data, I can't help but have doubts.

At 25Hp, there is not going to be but so much difference (you have sub-compact and compact). Dont get tied up too much with specs (it will drive you crazy and always make you wonder).

You mentioned comfort and getting older. Buy the most comfortable one that has the best overall quality in your mind.

The Bobcat is still very much made by Daedong, also known as Kioti. That salesman is either ignorant, or lying to you. Bobcat has some lovely white paint, and their own hood.

The difference between the lifting capacity of the two machines is because Bobcat uses a different supplier for attachments like loader and backhoe.

Are the tractors still 1 to 1 clones? Reason I ask, I saw a deal on a Bobcat 4050, and I wasnt able to definitely find out it its an NS or a DK, and some stuff suggested it is neither, yes, made by Daedong but not a Kioti machine straight rebadged. Not sure what all is different though?

To my understanding, outside of attachments, there are no discernable differences.

The 4000 series are DK's and the 5000 are NX's.

Maybe you should focus on the tractor weight as opposed to the specs. That will tell you if you're looking at the same class of machine and give you a good idea of it's capability.

not all 25HP engines are the same. In the sub-compact Kubota, the 25HP engine is significantly smaller displacement than the 25HP engine in the L series, so you get a ton more torque in the L.
