Strange no notice of cancellation produced…

Especially since the law abhors forfeiture…

Likely a notice was sent and missed during those brief weeks/months. We were stuck in a hospital 100+ miles from home, no easy access for keeping up with mail at that time. It's likely notices were sent in the window between him getting sick and passing, which spanned August thru October.

I'm sure the cancelation was legal, and wasn't trying to claim otherwise. I was just refuting the notion that somehow things were better 30 years ago, as a woman who paid her insurance premiums every period for 40 years was hosed out of the policy due to missing just the last payment at the end.

Insurance has always been a ruthless business, and insurance companies always about as underhanded as one can legally get away with being.

Lawyers, car salesman, insurance companies are all in the same boat in my books.

As I've posted in a couple of threads, my house and everything I owned burnt to the ground about 4 months ago. My insurance company is Farmers Insurance (not State Farm).
The response from Farmers was stellar and in my view, could not have been faster or better. Most of the emails were from Mid-Century Insurance Company. Yes, I was under insured, they said that and I agreed. However, that's the policy I chose. Mostly because we never think it will actually happen to us. In short, I was impressed!

They told my wife, in no uncertain terms, that since we argued with them they will screw with us. They even told her that we will wait.
Doesn't this apply to most of life? Seriously, don't become that dissatisfied customer that nobody wants to work with in resolving an issue. I agree that sometimes one has to take a hard line but when emotions get involved it can become a whole new problem.

I’ve been with Farmers for decades with local agent and all was good…

This year all 7 current policies non renewed citing departure from my market :-(

We've been expecting one of those letters. The house, outbuildings, land with liability, tractors Gator, ATV and pickup and an umbrella are all one big expensive bundle. Never had a claim except for rodent damage on the pickups.

I read recently that actuaries can actually factor in claim free insurance as a negative. That means the chances that you will have one are increasing with time.

Yep… who would have thought having a claim free history would be a negative.

So far I have maxed deductibles to help… some are now 10k.

Our stuff with State Farm with the deductibles isn't that bad for the minimum. Esp for the pickups.
