RS< if you need ideas for the gates here is a picture of my 8 ft gate, the 16 ft Gate is similar50F and sunny @ 08:45, heading up to around 75F for the day's high.
Good day for a road trip out into rural Ohio and then some mowing when I get back.
Got posts unloaded late yesterday:
Next step on that project will be to get the 4 x 4's tarped and move a squirrel cage blower down from the shop and get it circulating some air so they dry out a little quicker. Need to wire up a proper cord for it first though.
After that I loaded the empty IBC tote in the van.
Drained off a half quart or so of engine oil as I had slightly overfilled it the last time I had topped it off. Took it out for a quick test drive and that was enough to get the high oil level warning indicator to shut off.
Checked the rear tire pressure and they were at 70psi so I topped those off at 80 psi which is the maximum.
Fished out a 10' stick of 1/2" conduit and some hose clamps to get the pick up hose on the bottom of the underground fuel tank and loaded those in the van.
Northwest planting bed is filling in nicely, sure needs weeded though:
Have to see if I can get The Woman on that lol.
And the new hosta that I transplanted last year seem to be doing well:
On that last photo I finally got the power company to come out and take down the pin oak that was growing up into the electrical wires next to the pole with the transformer on it ... so that area won't be getting as much shade.
Of course that was after they came out and trimmed it and left a huge mess and I called and raised holy hell.
Dole out this week's meds and then I'm probably off to pick up the next load of diesel fuel.
Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ...![]()
Thanks for the update, and prayers for Dona.Good morning. Weather has been nice, cool in the low 40's, highs mid 60's. Finally a chance for rain today. Haven't had any precip in over a month!
Some good news and some bad news.....
Dona's PET scan showed that the lymph nodes/cancer has been obliterated in the lymph system. The bone marrow areas show that it is almost gone.
The bad news is it has now spread into the actual bone. Blood work is stable, but the important parts are still showing low. The oncology "team" (6 Drs) meet with a consortium of Drs from the Mayo on Wednesday. They will present Dona's case to them. They will formulate a new treatment strategy.
This hit me much harder than it did Dona. She has always been strong.... I'm counting on that.....
She goes for another thoracentesis on Thursday. We are hoping the fluid buildup is continuing to be on the decrease.
She did come outside with me yesterday and we transplanted about 30 new tree seedlings. We may do another 15 or so today. This week we will probably be able to do a few plantings. Good that she gets some sun and fresh air.
That's about it.....
Hope everyone has a great day!

David and Steve, thanks both for suggestions, I passed my Technician class test yesterday, got 2 wrong out of 35. I challenged the General exam and missed by 1.Scott, there are a number of free practice exams online. I did a bunch of them. Took about 10 minutes for real test, 100%
Hey Great news! Amateur Advanced would be good and get you back on HF! IC-7300 is a great radio make sure to connect it via a USB cable to your PC for digital modes. The 7300 has a builtin sound card so software is all you need for your desired flavor of digital.Good Morning,
Ct, 46 to start going to 68. Clear blue skies now. Sorry I missed the last couple of days, I have been very busy.

I did not study for that exam so no worries. But I did get some good news, while at the VE examining site for found out that if I can prove that I was licensed back in the 60’s and 70’s I could get back my Amateur Advanced license reinstated. The first photo is my name address from 1971 Callbook. Also a picture of my station at the time. So I’m pretty sure I can get my old license back. I was WA1HLP,
Scott W Martin with an A after my name, supposedly from what I have read that is enough proof.
Don, beautiful pictures.
I bought an Icomm IC-7300 transeiver and other accessories to be able to get back on the air. Kathleen is not thrilled that I will have a dipole antenna going over the top of our house.
My neighbor across the street is an electrician, and has volunteered to use his bucket truck to help me get the wires up on the trees.
Paul, sorry to hear you had all those issues to deal with on the plane.
RS, welcome back, looking forward to you planting this year.
Happy, nice work on the bridge, wondering whether you welded any support structure between the two pipes ?
Off to church shortly, Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there.
Hope all have a great day![]()
