Well it’s time for that first engine oil change for my Jinma 354 with the three cylinder engine so I’m looking for any tips for the procedure/oil and parts. I’m thinking starting her up and running to temperature and draining the oil oil as per usual. Replace the oil filter, check drain plug sealing ring (copper washer ?) and fill to full level. Restart and let run for a minute, shut down and check for leaks and oil level.

For parts: oil Rotella 15/40 T4, oil filter no idea…looks Chinese any local filters which could be used? Install new copper sealing washer…diameter?

Also should install a new fuel filter but need replacement numbers, I think someone mentioned Napa filters but I haven’t found that thread again.

Here’s a cross reference for your tractor to Wix filters:

I have the 4-cylinder but my oil filter is a Fram PH8A, which I can get at any Walmart, as befits the heritage of the tractor.

The only thing tricky on mine is that the bracket for the FEL is close to the drain plug and it's hard to get a funnel in there without getting oil all over the bracket.

I think you've covered everything. If you have compression release, I like to use that until the oil light goes out before starting.

Change the injector oil at the same time. SAE30, lawnmower oil.

Thanks much! Any method to changing the injector oil? Kinda new to diesels.

This must be unique to Jinma machines? I certainly don’t have that option on my Kubota.

I have a vague recollection of reading here that Jinma uses the same part number, JX0707, for several different thread pitches. Some are metric, some are inches. Mine is 3/4" and I've been using a Fram filter since the beginning.

Update: found this:
"This filter number is associated with three different size and style oil filters. If your filter has this number we will be dimensions to ensure you are ordering the correct filter."

Well that really sucks, you have to take the filter off to check the thread size then order based on that. I had thought everything on these was metric…haven’t seen any imp threads yet. I guess it’s also possible to use a 48/64”-16 thread instead of the m18x1.5 thread and it would “ kinda fit”. Guess I’ll take the filter off and measure the threads, no other option! Old filter numbers are obscured.

I also found I have 5 gallons of rotella straight 40 wt oil on hand. Would this also be suitable for the oil change? The manual I have shows 40# but maybe the Chinese have other oil standards?

I've found that my Jinma is very sensitive to the oil grade, if I use anything other than 15W-40 I have trouble maintaining oil pressure and the oil light flickers.
