Cybertruck owners buy it because they want to differ from the crowd. Its a lifestyle statement.
Same as the Prius 20 years ago, it just had to be styled odd so that everyone can see that its owner was saving the planet while upholding traffic in the fast lane![]()
Yep, my stereotype of a CT fan is because it's different, and they might be just as likely to buy one if it had a ICE drivetrain.
Prius was different. Toyota was all about MPG, even to the extent of pumping the coolant into an insulated container when the engine was off in case it was restarted soon. IIRC, it had a drag coefficient lower than a Porsche 911. The weird shape was all about aerodynamics. Later, when T introduced the boxy rear version for more hauling capacity, the mileage dropped, probably from aerodynamics.
