Not buying with the high out put model.I agree on the 91 oct.part
God bless you if you have the disposable cash to upgrade on a nearly-new truck, just because you feel like it. But then why the aversion to premium fuel?

No judgement, good for you if you can swing it. It just seems like a weird line to draw in the sand, at a slightly more expensive fuel.

Sad days for those who would like a half-ton with a V8

Paid cash for the 2022 Ram 1500 when I was working now retired.Current truck is longhorn model want to get into the Laramie model a few more bells and whistles.More stuff to fix.LMAO.

But the HO motor would give you even more stuff to fix!

I know I'm in the minority, but I always focus much more on the vehicle trim level than brand or model. Whatever vehicle I buy, no matter the brand or model, it's almost always the trim level with the highest horsepower engine.

Cracks me up when losers in entry-level German "sport sedans" think they're hot sh*t, thanks to an expensive badge brand, and then get spanked by a lowly Dodge with double their horsepower. My wife's old Volvo wagon was particularly fun, V50 R-design wagon with the 2.5T engine and AWD, used to really surprise the Audi and BMW crowd with that boxy little grocery getter.

@WinterDeere yes, some of those Volvo wagons were definitely sleeper cars. They always brought a smile to my face watching them takeoff to make a merge on an on-ramp.

All the best,

Peter

It gives you this weird kick in the ass when decelerating to a stop in Sport mode.
I will say that similar to your comment, when I've got it in tow mode hauling my small water tank trailer (1100L) and touch the brake so it downshifts, it'll slow it down pretty darn good.

The Hurricane 6 intrigues me. If I lived at high altitude, then I’d be highly tempted to go turbo. To some degree I think the spec sheet hp is pointless when you consider the torque management systems limit the engine.

My wife has a 2022 Ram 5.7 Hemi
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins
My daily is a 2001 Ram 1500 5.2 5-speed

I prefer driving my 2001 the most, and the weak old 5.2 magnum will trounce the newer more powerful trucks in a burnout contest, brake slide contest, donut spinning and off-road stupidity.

Obviously my 2018 tows amazingly. My wife’s 2022 constantly nags me for not being perfectly in the center of my lane, or getting too close to objects, etc. It’s truly a wife’s truck. It just won’t ever STFU and do what I want.

So me personally, I don’t like the complexity or nanny features on new vehicles. I briefly considered upgrading my 2018 Cummins, and an inmate here reminded me about the modern nanny features. It made up my mind real quick.

If you decide you like it after a test drive, go for it. When the wife and I retired we traded in the 3 old vehicles and bought 3 new 2024 vehicles. She got a Cadillac XT6, and I got the GMC Yukon Denali for a daily driver and the GMC 3500HD Denali to tow with, both 4WD and Duramax diesels. Paid cash for the difference. We are traveling around more and wanted to ride in comfort in our old age. It has paid off in that respect alone, not to mention the better fuel mileage.

Mines a '19 Ram 1500 with the hemi, I'm going to stick with it. Twin turbos gives you twin cost when they go down, more moving parts, my 2 cents worth. When they start getting that much HP and torque out of a 6 cylinder, you're working it. I'd sooner have an 8 that's lazing around rather than a 6 that's working hard most of the time. Just my opinion.

What makes it 'super"?
Mine in my Ram is a ZF8 (not super) and it's described as a great transmission, BWM, Audi, Benz and a bunch of others use it.. I'm not overly impressed with it, seems to lug a lot, the lock up torque converter is rough or hiccup is a better description when it disengages when coming from a coast to a mild acceleration. It could very well be the Ram software and not a fault of the transmission I suppose. I've been back to the dealer a couple times right after I got it and I get the 'It's normal, go away" .
I'm considering changing the fluid with 85KMS on it now and going with Valvoline MaxLife which is approved for the ZF8 and is a lot better priced that $30 a liter for the ZF fluid.

What makes it "super" (actually can’t remember what the adjective was) is it's a beefed up design to handle the double torque load of a Cummins.
Have one in the BMW X5 and the Jeep Rubicon and really like them in those vehicles.

420HP
That’s a lot of power.
What is the warranty coverage?

I heard the towing mirrors on the 2500-5500 have been changed, too.

Any opinions on the new 2025 Ram 1500 with the standard hurricane inline 6cly.with twin turbos?I currently have a 2022 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi.Thinking about trading up to a 2025.
I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 5.7L, and I would not do an even swap for a new 2025. Let it get the kinks worked out for atleast a year or two. That's just my opinion.

Hopefully Ram put together a good machine. I don't think there will be massive problems, but I prefer to let other folks be the Beta Testers

Oh lord, that reminds me....during the 80's and 90's my family mom, dad & uncle (surrogate father after dad died in the late 90's) were very big on BMW's and Volvos for safety and reliability. In any case, after I graduated from college in '99 my uncle gifted me a early-90's metallic grey Volvo turbo wagon as a graduation present to replace the mid-80's 240 wagon I had been driving into the ground.

If I hadn't already been engaged the thing would've been the definition of a nicer looking "shag wagon". Mom was happy because her son was going out into the world in a safe and reliable vehicle.... What she and most people didn't realize is that my uncle did me a serious under the table solid....

With the turbo that thing was a pretty serious sleeper off the line. I might have been able to keep up for the duration but the look on peoples' faces when I would keep up with their mustang or Camaro off the line, or pass them on the interstate was absolutely priceless.

The fun ended when maintenance started becoming a reality at around 250,000 miles - $300.00 for a twilight cover, $800.00 for a used speedo unit out a junkyard in GA, decent tires with the appropriate speed rating, etc.

They were great cars at the time, but for someone at the start of their career & in a job field that wasn't high income maintenance costs were prohibitive. Final straw was when the apartment complex decided to forklift the wagon to move it for a parking lot re-surface while I was on vacation and cracked the transmission housing in the process.

Yeah, Volvo has long been a brand with a few higher horsepower options. The trouble with the wagons, ours included, was their rollover safety requirements. They beefed up the roof and pillars enough that, even with the expensive sport suspension, it had some body roll in the corners. When comparing it to the available sports wagons at the time (2011?), the Volvo was the only option with manual transmission paired with a HO engine, but the BMW and Audi both handled better.

I actually looked at replacing our little V50 with their newer Polestar V60 wagon, a PHEV with something like 480 hp and just insane torque, but we were totally fed up with the local dealership(s) and the cost was substantially higher than some other options at the time (2020). We ended up replacing that Volvo with another Dodge.
