Pulled my engine belts (2) off today after work (both alternator and a/c belts are shot).

Hopefully the Napa in town can size up a replacement pair tomorrow (nearest dealer is 4 hrs away).

I'm thinking they can, these are just V-belts after all.

Let us know how it goes. I had to settle for a little wider belt than original but it has been working fine. Around here they don’t have belt gauges to measure anymore. The just use a tape measure so it took a couple of trips to get one that would work.

My 3520h took a Napa XL 25 9415 for the alternator (I had to cut the original off when a hen decided to nest up there and got stuck... hen survived, minus a couple toes). Still on the napa for the last four years, ~600 hours.

The original one is an A40.5 belt. The one for the AC, I can't help. Those are for the plebs with cabs. 🤣

I remember not being able to get an exact match locally when I needed it so I'm not surprised it's a different size. I recall some difficulty getting the napa belt on the pulleys (and getting the alternator to move was a pain if I recall), but it works ;)

I had quite a bit of trouble sourcing this exact belt when I had my crawler tractors. They used this size belt and couldn't be any longer or shorter as it had a very small amount of travel on the generator to tension the belt.

Now I remember it on top of my head.

The saga continues...

The first set of belts I came home with were much too short. This was after questioning why the girl at the counter was using a metal tape measure instead of the belt measuring tool. Their reply was that the metal tape measure was "much better than the tool".

Ok.

Got home with the set and nope. Not even close to fitting.

Returned that set and all the while the girl was returning the set, she was explaining to me how they were the "right" size. I said it must be a defective tape measure. I told her all I could say was I had both tensioners for both belts slackened up as far as they would go and the belt would not go on the pulley. So despite her protestations, she brought me a larger pair of belts. When I asked how much larger, she said one was "7/8's larger" and the other one was "3/4 larger".

Brought home set #2...

The belt for the fan + alternator fits and tightens up. Looks like it will be fine. The one for the a/c, nope. Still too short.

Will have to return it tomorrow after work, as it was too late to go back again this evening.

Trip #3 was a success.

New a/c belt is on and tight.

Tractor back in service.

Ning,

My alternator + fan belt is the exact same one you used. Napa XL 25 9415.

The a/c compressor belt is a Napa XL 25 9570.

In case anyone else needs to match one up and doesn't want the chickee poo at the counter to use a tape measure.

So it's not as simple as going to the parts counter and ask for a A40.5 belt? Man what an ordeal.

I had a heck of a time getting the right belts to fit my tractor too. It took multiple trips to the store. You can't necessarily go by the size printed on the belt (all belts with the same LxW dimensions seem to be the same), and there usually isn't as much room for belt adjustment as you'd like.

Started pulling stumps from dead trees i fell last month. This one is the smallest. Took about 2 hours
The rest is going to be more difficult. They are larger and located on 20-25 degree slope.

It is why the Honda is for on the side ;)
Honda's bed, then on the roof, then you are in business.
Dont forget to load all the tools in to the cage before lifting it

Given the current situation in my country for the last couple days and probably a lot more to come with pretty much the upper half of the country burning, today I went to the remote propriety, that is located in the center of of the country, to get my "fire fighting" setup ready to go.

This propriety is located on a small village on the top of a small mountain, so it's very easy to get surrounded by fires once it happens. Last one was 18 years ago, I was like 12 years old. It was quite an experience seeing huge fire balls jump 50 to 70 meters further way and increasing that fire size like nothing.

Here is the situation right now, over 5000 firefighters spread all over the place. More coming from the south of the country to help. Sad part is most of these fires are arson.

And the setup, nothing fancy, probably won't do much but will do something. Just a IBC, small pump and some hose. If I don't use it for me, it will be ready for anyone that may need help. Note the smoke in the air, even thought the closest fire is about 40 miles away.

Thank you! There is indeed some crazy stuff going on.

Looks like we might be getting a little rain Thursday or Friday.
