This reminds me of when NASA got caught changing the historical temperatures for the last year to make it look like it was warming up today. At first they denied it and went on about their reputation and how important science is. Then when shown the proof, NASA replied that the thermometers used in the last 100 years where not accurate, and their digital ones where more accurate, so they fixed the "wrong" temperatures.

It really is a big joke to launder money. Say one thing, do another, and when caught, just move on to something else.

I remeber that fondly. It was actually NOAA that was cooking the books. They would put thermometers on airport tarmacs, in city parking lots, and other places that have non natural thermal heat zones.

They then were doing an "adjustment" to account for the placements. They got rolled online and due to the fact they knew there would be no consequences to their actions...they still have the thermometers in the same places and do the same "adjustments".

We have too big of a government with no accountability, but they sure like to push a narrative.

Haven't had them long enough to properly evaluate, but ThermPro and Govee make inexpensive outdoor humidity and temperature monitors that can pair to your phone via bluetooth. It's surprising that these things are as inexpensive as a simple bulb thermometer but can be set to alarm if the temps or humidity levels get too high.

Airports are often chosen as reference sites for the lack of trees, and yet have grass, rather than concrete or asphalt around the weather station. Plus, airports are usually staffed and someone can keep track of the instruments.

Maybe in some locations someone is keeping track of the instruments....

The nearest National Weather Service monitoring site is at the airport about 8 miles north of my place. From what I understand it is a completely computerized system, no one takes care of it unless it crashes. Which it does, often. I check their web site pretty much daily - but sometimes the site goes down and remains down for a week or more until they send someone out to fix it. And...although most of the time it is functioning correctly there are many times, for instance, when I look out to see a perfectly calm clear morning without a cloud in the sky but when I check the NWS web site it tells me the skies are cloudy. Keep in mind that this is the high desert - as I type this I can look out my window and see the mountains 50 miles away so its not like it is clear at my house but cloudy at the airport. And there's been times when I've driven by the airport on my way to town (it is within a quarter mile of the road) and there are huge pools of water on both sides of the road - but the NWS site either reports no precipitation at all, or a "trace".

These computerized stations may be cheaper/more efficient than having human weather watchers doing the reports but they sure aren't more accurate!

In a few short months, everyone will be crying about the cold and snow (least up here in the north). It appears that no one is ever happy about the weather.

Not me. I prefer snow and cold. The only good things about summer are corn, cukes, tomatoes and bikinis.

Last summer we had week upon week of rain. This year, even when temps are high for this area I am not complaining. After last year, I will tolerate the heat.

Plus I'm getting a bumper crop of cucumbers.

I like the heat of summer, the cold of winter, and the moderate weather of fall. I cannot stand spring with the seesaw temperatures and unending winds.

Same here in Nevada. The wind doesn't quit till the weather turns really hot...when we would love a breeze!

Our summer monsoon season (July-early October) is really the nicest time of the year. No wind, daily or several times weekly afternoon thunderstorms, and temperatures in the 80s (at my elevation). Everything is green and temperatures are mild.
