Tractor
2019 m1735
know this has been discussed. my story: 2019 M1735

- drained and bled main fuel filter
- cleaned outter air filter/ inner element ok
- added tractor oil (was pretty low)
- engine only bogs under bb7200X shredder. grass is not that high.
-disengage pto and all is good.

when it begins to bog i let up on fwd pedal and engine “catches up” with proper rpm.

the higher grass makes it bog, but not high or thick enough to bring engine to a virtual stop.

any ideas will be appreciated.

Not a "shredder" it's a "rotary cutter"... Most often used vernacular is a "brush hog".... Cutter is probable to big for tractor (your tractor is rated at 36-40 HP) or you are trying to cut to much, to fast..... Cutter is actually recommended for tractors with 50 -150HP...

it’s a shredder and rated for tractor.

If Wrangler is correct ( and I believe he is), you are basically FOS. Even if he is, have you sharpened the blades lately? Sharp blades cut way better than dull ones and use much less power as well and it appears you don't have all that much to begin with... I call both my bat wing and my flat back LP brush hogs, shredders as well but they are really not.

I do know that my flat back 72" LP will work my tractor in heavy vegetation and I have over 90 pto horsepower and no hydro to rob power either.

You come on here, list your tractor model and brush hog model and tell Wrangler he is FOS. Not very becoming of a new member I'd say. Candidly, I had no idea what tractor you had until he clarified it. There are many diverse tractors with a bunch of model numbers and some overlap.

That tractor is about 1/2 of the recommended MINIMUM PTO horsepower specified by the mower manufacturer.
To solve your bogging problem I recommend a slower speed, bigger tractor, or smaller brush cutter.

Kind of surprised that little tractor can even lift that mower up. I know if I don't have the loader on the front of my M9 and have the 72 flat back LP on the 3 point and lift it up, I can actually feel the front end get light. it don't get light to the point where it lifts it but light enough where I can feel it in the steering and my tractors are about twice as big as his is.

searching other posts in this forum, seems that 6’ shredder may not necessarily be too big for mine. Fact, i think someone implied that. i admit you’re going to have to modify your technique and slow down. in terms of weight, the 6’ is less than half the pto max. and handles it easily appreciate the constructive replies received.

i meant, 1/2my 3 pt lift capacity. shouldn’t post these things going through What-a-Burger drive through.

This 72" cutter is designed to be used with a PTO Hp of 50-150, your M1735 is rated at 35 HP but it's PTO only has a rating of 26.4 Hp.

I'm also surprised with a weight of 1,440 lbs that your 1735 3-point hitch can lift it as a large portion of the 1,440 lbs is out way beyond the 26" of your 2,535 lb rating of your 3-point lift.

Did you purchase this cutter from the same dealer as your 1735?

It was a bundle package. based on my 4 years with tractor and cutter i’d say they sold me the wrong cutter. But, it’s not that black and white. Ex: I’m not cutting much brush. My hay field was a lot higher than usual. so i started thinking about size. Also, mechanic told me yesterday that a 36 pto hp (which i don’t have) would pull it fairly easily. The shredder is half the weight of the3 pt lift capacity (beyond the ends).

At the end of the day i do agree that the cutter is generally too big.

If the dealer sold this as a tractor/bush hog package - I'd be looking for a new dealer that had his head screwed on right.
