My local Napa in Murfreesboro TN sells ALL gold Napa filters at 50% off every third Friday of the month. May be worth checking your local Napa for the same deal if you use their filters. This is for air, oil, hydro, fuel, etc.

Our napa used to do that. I would stock up for all the oily beasts. Two thing happened. First I began selling the machines before I used up the filters. So now I have a collection of odd filters I will never use. Second is my napa stopped. Not sure why but

I recently installed a WIX 51759 hydraulic filter on a 1430. It looks identical to the PT filter. The only issue is that the gasket shipped with it is too thick to fit in the base where the filters screws into. I reused the old gasket when I installed the filter.

I noticed the specs for the WIX filter list three gaskets. it ships with 15415. 15661 is a little thinner. The other gasket is much thinner. Does PT ship the 15661 with their filters? I may just order one and see if it fits.

I believe the steering valve in old PT400 series are the same as a JD part # AM100268.

Best to check first. New, about $1300. Used about $150.

For the 1445, which takes the same WIX 51759 (Napa 1759) suction filters, I've ordered the two possible gaskets, as the 3rd variant is an "L" shaped gasket designed to go outside of the filter, not for the PT filter base.

Want the good news? Want the bad news? Good news/bad news: It is same gasket that comes with the filter. Yes, it is an exercise in frustration, but by pre-oiling the gasket, and working it into the groove, ending up with the extra "bulge" on the open side of the base where I can see it, I have managed to get the new gaskets on/in. I keep pressing the bulge in, and working the gasket material away from the bulge until it flattens out.

I would start by searching with your Deutz model number, (F2L2011?) or just look on the filter that you have. The number is printed on one of the flanges. I suspect that you have a 1319257, but verify that. If you do have a 1319257, here are the cross references;

After knocking the loose debris off, I periodically use compressed air to blow my air filter cartridge off from the inside out. The air canister for the filter is normally installed horizontally to help the filter shed dust, and remove the dust from the housing, something it doesn't do in the vertical orientation. Generally, i do it at each oil change, and after tasks that are particularly dusty.

The filters for my 3 cylinder (F3L2011) generally aren't cheap from any source, so I tend to stick with the original manufacturer, MANN, and try to pick them up at lower prices when NOS comes available.

One time PT sent me my package inside a box with the name of who they get their air filters from. I looked it up and the filters were much cheaper, but you had to buy at least 100 ( or close to that number). I actually forgot the name of that company.

Just recently I bought a few air filters for the 1430 from PT, and they are $72 a piece.

The school I went to told us that blowing out an air filter with an air hose creates larger openings in your filter element, therefore, allowing more dirt to pass through your filter. It’s “Some food for thought.”

$70/filter sounds about right. Three years ago, I think I bought two for $60 on eBay. Amazon has the original, for my tractor at $44 at the moment. As I wrote, I try to shop around as these are fairly pricey filters.

Yes, thanks for the tip. I have heard the same thing about never blowing out a filter, but when I tried to track it down, I never found any data. A rumor by filter manufacturers? For fun, I once intentionally left an oil drop just inside the intake manifold downstream of the air filter, and it didn't accumulate any noticeable dust. Seventeen years of this, and there's still nothing on the inside of the air intake, so I don't know what to say. Just to be clear, I do change the air filter, every couple of years on principle. I haven't ever had the filter indicator go red.

I do know that in several industries, there are air filters that have periodic reverse flow to blow off dust, e.g. "bag houses", and generators in high dust / high salt environments. Perhaps, if the "bigger holes concept" is true, it is about not getting the compressed air nozzle too close / too intense?

If you or someone else has data, I'm happy to learn, and change my ways.

The 4.10-4 2.25 5/8 axle 4 inch hub run flat wheels on my brush mower delaminated after 17 years. Anyone have a source? I can't seem to find the Carlisle/Carstar version, and the Marathon versions have terrible online reviews.

I would be happy to try the laminated tire versions, but I don't know a good source.

I understand that High Grade Mfg sells most of the laminated wheels to the OEM brush cutter mfgs. Recently bought 15" wheels and hubs from them to convert my OEM PT1445 brush cutter wheels. Quality seems fine, but am having to fabricate a different mount for the rear wheels on the mower deck. Will be posting more about that as I go along.

I need replacements for the rear two wheels, hence the smaller size.

The sizes aren't stamped on my OEM rear brush cutter wheels, but I believe they are bigger than 4.10-4 which makes me wonder if PT has changed the cutter design since you bought yours? I'd be interested in comparing pictures. Already removed the OEM wheels to make measurements for fabricating a mount for larger wheels in this picture, but does your cutting deck look like mine at the rear?

I've placed two orders with High Grade and both arrived quickly with no problems. Last week's order was shipped to me UPS from 5250 Old Louisville Rd, Pooler GA 31322
