I am taking the next step in my tractor evolution. I have bought some hydraulic implements (root grapple, cutter, custom fork grapple). Since most of what I will be doing is open/close (grapples) power on/off (cutter) I am thinking of using my rear remote rather than spend $1000+ for a third function kit. Being in S. Tx I am a bit concerned about fluid temp (especially with the cutter). I have read that it would be better to run the hydr return line to the sump while the supply can come from the rear remote. IF I am looking at the right thing the sump is gonna be a pain to access and I am not sure which port is the return (I am assuming it's where the return line from the main hydr control block is connected). Trying to reach Mahindra support AND getting an answer was a chore in itself and I was left more confused than when I started. My questions are:
1) Anyone else pass on buying the 3rd function kit? If so, how did you go about it.
2) Does this setup make sense or will I be OK just doing everything at the rear? (much easier)

Any help or ideas are GREATLY appreciated.

Not a problem , i have been using my rear remote to operate my grapple for 6 yrs and i have found it oprates as good as the 3 function for me at the cost of two hydraulic hoses from back to front and 2 sets of connectors.

i find it handy to have the button to open/close the grapple on the FEL joystick. you should be able to DIY the 3rd function for less than $1k, i just rolled mine into my total and i spent $1200 getting the dealer to do it. the kit from summit was about $600 at the time. you are going to spend a couple hundred on hoses and fittings to go to the rear, so to me the the delta is worth it.
