Well still a success in

Stage zero survived with little or no damage- MAJOR improvement over launch 1

All booster engines appeared to run the duration, a 1st and reached altitude

Hot staging did take place and Starship did fire it's engines.

They lost heat tiles lots of them... They need those tiles.

Automated FTS was commanded because of data loss of booster,
and then ship @ ~ 10 minutes (Not fully confirmed)

Lots of questions, and More info will eventually to be made public by SpaceX

Also news that parts are being delivered to build another OLM to increase launch cadence.

ps. The starship booster has now set the record (BY FAR) as the most powerful rocket in world history making it to the Karman line ...

SpaceX has already built Over 400 Raptor engines and has now easily surpassed 7 engines built every week.

A success in my book. Just Elon's way of doing business. Test, fail, update, repeat until success. He seems to get there faster, and cheaper, than the competition...

I wonder how the launch pad fared this time?

Thanks for posting the video. I was impressed with how fast it was going, but even more so in seeing that explosion!!!!!

Just saw a report from Elon that he had examined the launch pad and said that no repairs will be needed before next launch. Water spray and steel plate worked as expected. He said they would be ready to launch again in 3-4 weeks but FAA approval/license would be needed before next launch. FAA states a 'mishap' occurred on the launch of OFT-2 and they need to investigate it before issuing approval/license for OFT-3.

News from Elon on what caused the explosion.

Nothing wrong with the ship. They were carrying extra LOX and massively vented it...

Had they been carrying a payload instead, Musk said there would not have been an explosion.

More Bad News on Artemis dates pushed back again...

SpaceX speech by Elon year review and much more. Launch cadence to increase to maybe150 Falcon 9's in 2024. Looking forward 8 years we will likely be on Mars with Starship.

Interesting 'Ellie in Space' Interview with Tom Mueller who was SpaceX employee number 1, who designed the Merlin engine (Now considered the most reliable rocket engine in history) with insights into his new endeavour (Impulse Space) which will specialize in getting payloads to MEO and GEO

South polar moon landing today @ 5:30 pm Eastern.

Autonomous Odysseus mission IM-1.
Important mission for Artemis to advance.

Go NASA and Intuitive Machines lander.

Good job by SpaceX getting the mission launched into Space as well.

Angry Astronaut Coverage of the landing tonight and a primer on the mission.

It Looks like SpaceX is close to launching the Largest and most Powerful Flying machine in World History.

I do not think that is quite true,,
the SpaceX Merlin engine produces about 420kN,,
The F1 engine used in the 1960's and 1970's produced 6,770kN
If my math is correct the F1 produced over 16X what the Merlin engine produces.
The Saturn V could lift a payload that was over 300,000 pounds,,
That is a 150 ton payload,, that is over double the lift capacity of the Falcon Heavy,,,

You are responding to the first post . Starship does not use Merlins.

RAPTORS
old data Newer iterations should eclipse these thrust numbers

At full power, all engines produce a collective 74.4 MN (16,700,000 lbf) of thrust...More than double the Saturn V total output

Saturn V held the record for about 57 years. (not too shabby). Got beat last year by Starship.

Marcus House had a new vid with some Elon Quotes of where the Starship is headed lift and power wise and Beyond.
Neat video footage and construct as well.

I just saw this posted.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has completed its investigation into SpaceX’s second Starship flight, which took place in November last year

With the note that verification of modifications needed, final FAA approval and launch should happen in March.
