OOPS! Accidentally hit 'post' prematurely on the last post .....

Had an interesting night.... woke up around 01:15, in a stupor.... then a few minutes later, the alarm on the pellet stove went off......

Staggered out of bed to find the burn pot in the pellet stove way overflowing...... about 6 handfuls worth....
emptied it out and cleaned the pot ---- really clogged up.
Reset the stove and fired it up to see if the igniter burned out. Nope, working fine. Ok, back to bed.

Then early this morning around 05:30, Max starts alerting and barking at the front door..... guess who's back? --- the woodpecker. This bird is persistent... Had to shoo him away off the porch 3 times this morning! Going to have to find a solution.... might put up some blocking between the rafters to see if that will work.....

Ron, nice pic of the hawk. Watched a hawk swoop down into our courtyard and catch a ringneck dove just a couple of days ago. Definitely a few notches up the food chain.

Some shop time on the agenda today, probably tomorrow too. Haven't decided on which project to work on.....
First, I'll have to brave going under the overhand of snow to open the door to the shop.....

I'm surprised it curled down that much without breaking off. The lowest point is almost 2' down.

Everyone have a great day!

Good Afternoon LS,
No way I’m going into competition with Phil on wood turning ! He is our resident expert ! I will stick to furniture construction, something I know a little bit about ! 😉

Got the lathe stand cobbled together, just need to mount the motor ! Thinking of lagging the whole stand to my workbench for regidity! Looks like I will need a longer drive belt also !

Have a good afternoon!

great pics Ted, you have a downward snow wave there

email came with a link to local county paper, showed local JD dealer
and a 4075R tractor. Hmmmmm. That's a new one.
Apparently they put a bigger front axle on the current largest model, the 4066r, and
uprated the engine a little, now to 75hp/60 pto. I think 75 is the new king of the hydros, most hp before you go
to powershift. I almost bought the 4066r years ago. Bought the Kubota 5740 instead.
Both very good tractors, but JD local dealer at time was terrible. New people there, Little's are much better.
Bought my lawn tractor there. My grandfather bought our JD B from their predecessors at the same place in 1951.

so IF I could justify a tractor, this would be a nice one. But I can't.
if I had a two acre hobby farm, sign me up.

Good afternoon already !

It has become significantly warmer. Forecast says that all that beautiful snow will melt by mid next week. There is risk of flood

Morning went great.
Went with my ladies to city, dropped wife at fancy market, while took daughter to her pre-UNI school.
Seems that daughter is doing well

Wife is really enthusiast of such markets.

She have got that fancy bread, smoked fish, smoked ribs and peas. Later today wife made for us awesome soup.

Because of snow I have postponed trip to my forest to pick our Xmas tree. Got pressure from little ones that we can't live like morons anymore, have to go to market and buy one. Agreed and brought home this beauty

RNG, I bought one of the little Yamaha XT200's in 1982 for my ex-wife, for her to learn on. I bought a matching bigger XT550 and we would go ride around Clear Lake area SE of Houston. We had a good time, until our marital demise. I let her keep it. But the engines in those things were bullet proof, if you changed the oil. 20W-40 recommended. Valve adjustments should be done on a stone cold engine. Probably once you do it, it should stay good for a long while. Your bike is 41 years old. The weak points on many of those old bikes were the CDI sometimes would go out, and of course leaving the bad gas in the carburetor...probably sitting for long periods is worse than regular riding wear.

Happy birthday to NHBX wifey!

It's a balmy 51º going to 79º today. Been working on an electric conversion for a 1980's resistor coil golf cart. Got components mounted and wire diagram nearing complete. Hopes are to get a test today. Need to send out a few Xmas cards this AM if they are to arrive on time.
Went out to a family and friends Christmas dinner last night. Ate too much - lol
Good thing Christmas is only once a year. Will go visit with a friend today whose wife is ill. Something about his gate alarm not working, those driveway alarms are great for rural living. Nice to know when somebody is coming up the drive.
Of course a good dog can do the same...but harder to turn off. 😉
I looked into that, but ended up selling the buggy. A supposed friend lied to me about needing it for his terminal mother. It had a lift kit and ATV tires, but could use some new batteries. I sold it to him for $400. The lie wasn't about his sick mom, it was that he just wanted to get it and flip it. When I sold it to him, I told him "If you sell it, I want first rite of refusal to buy it back." he put some new batteries, rattle can sprayed it dark green, and sold it for $$$. He never offered it back to me, and he flipped it so fast, I know his mom hardly ever got to use it. She lived for a couple of years or more. He turned out to be the kind of guy who would whittle on your price, no matter if you told him firm. My FIL later taught me to just tell them to go stuff it and not sell them the item even if they agree to your price, for a matter of principle.

I'd like to hear how your new controller ends up working. 48v is a lot more than 36v.

Hope your friend's wife gets better.

79 degrees, sounds mighty nice Scootr.
now you wouldn't happen to be adding a little power to that golf cart, would you?

I'd like to get shock absorbers for my golf cart.
suspension is pretty crude, has plenty of clearance with 3" lift, but not enough suspension for bumps.
really designed for hard surfaces despite my aggressive tires. Local golf cart place seems to specialize in customizing.
I know they have a high performance mod/faster speed they can add, never had any interest.
I go pretty slow and just want to be comfortable if I go on a path or trail, but fully understand golf cart is not a UTV.
My Kubota RTV would go anywhere, despite slow steering. It had an amazing amount of compliance in suspension.
The golf cart has none.

Frits, your daughter's pics are a treat, thanks for posting.
Drew, the above mentioned cart rode half decent, lowering the air pressure to about 3psi in the atv tires helped. We have an old HPX gator that has a stout ride to manage its carrying capacity. The new 835M gator floats like a cloud across a field. I've never rode in a better suspended side x side.

Billy, hope your crud is getting better. Mine is still annoying, but livable. My wifey now has it and is missing sleep.

Buppies, prayers for sleep and for other situations.

RNG, I sold my home north of Austin, at the worst time in 2004. I did not hire a realtor, but ended up selling to the son of a realtor. They beat me up on price more that I wanted, but I was in a bad economic situation. They must've found out and ended up beating me down on price about 9%. The home had sat for over 4 months with no serious lookers (boy times sure have changed). If I'd had sold it 2 years earlier I could have made an extra 50% profit. Timing is everything on selling. Some are saying the Feds will lower rates next year.

May have to do some plumbing. A bathroom sink is slow draining, probably hair and whatever accumulation for 20 years....

Also the crumpled steelskin will get an oil change today.

Son is supposed to chop up old dead trees and stack us a bon fire.

Prayers for our team, our nation, Ukraine, Israel.

Drew, I wish you would hurry up and hit the lottery so we could all get one of those. :)
If you only knew how long I've admired the 4066's too. I don't even want to know the price but would guess close to $60K or more with FEL.

Beautiful pics. Love your dog. He looks proud, distinguished, handsome, and ready to please. My friend here bought 2 of those, and was nice enough to move to cold climate in Colorado so they could be happier.
That looks like some very "earthy" grain type of bread. I'll bet it is good. My friend has case of flared up diverticulitis and he can't eat any seeds or whole grains. Only soft stuff like mashed potatoes and canned veggies, among other things.

sounds like I'm not the only one with a bottle of Tums on my desk.
I drink too much coffee on an empty stomach early in the morning and have found one Tums really helps.
I also need to eat a banana or something early to get something in my stomach.
Arthritis meds (celebrex) also hard on system, have to eat before I take them.

time for breakfast.
and then a shower and watch the temps rise until I'm willing to head out.
still very pleased how warm my new work coat is and having my beard grown in a little now,
might head out in the 40's. Usually wait til warmer.
Am always cold in the winter.
If you perk, drip, or press your coffee, some crushed eggshells will improve the taste and neutralize the acids in the coffee. . .

Good afterMorning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

44.2F not getting much higher, precipitating somewhat the last hour.

it was 20.5 when my butt got into the tree stand at 4AM. Managed to spook some deer that had bedded down about halfway between my vehicle and the stand. Spooked a couple more that were on the corn and mineral block just past my stand. Then had a bunch of activity behind my stand, but too dark to see anything, then had a buck stamping and blowing on a scrape about 69 feet behind my stand, also in the car, way before legal hours—- and it is antlerless season now anyway.

but I got to see several satellites, a couple meteors, and NO MOSQUITOS!!!!!

rest of the day is fay two of making coquito for Christmas — it got cooked up yesterday, cooked overnight, will get bottled, half the jars without rum, half with rum. catching up on some reading and ensuring the couches don’t run off to join the circus, maybe take a sauna later.

i hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!!!

Was 43°F and raining lightly this morning, going up 50° today. Looks like rain pretty much all day.

Can't believe it was Thanksgiving the last time I was here. Goodness, where does the time go?

Hope everyone is well.

Good afternoon, gents.
