Not that most care, but Tesla reported earnings today. Income down 40% and stock down 10%.

Buying opportunity? Stock - not car.

Tesla had a huge miss on both top line and bottom line earnings.

Even trying to go to volume over profit per car was not enough to overcome the falutering demand. And it's not just Tesla that is worried about EV demand dropping off...

High interest rates is going to be a blood bath for the entire industry.

I still read where it is recommended to keep the battery between 20 and 80% with 50% being optimum. I understand that NO manufacture will rate mileage of an EV by this standard just as an oil burner won't give a range for a tank of gas that doesn't go below 1/4 tank.

Having said that, IF you try to maintain the EV battery between 20 and 80%, what does that reduce the 325 mile range to? My simplistic math tells me the 325 mile range is closer to 200 miles if using the battery between 20 and 80%. Am I wrong?

I usually fill my Mazda 3 up after about 350 miles. The range is closer to 400 on a tank with my driving habits.
These cars sound more n more like a iPhone …….

It depends on where you live and where you drive. On a lot of my trips I have to worry about finding _gas_ stops in the middle of the night (not as bad as it used to be though). I've never noticed any superchargers on those routes. Probably will be soon, but not yet. I often leave Mitchell, SD and head through the res to North Platte. Probably about 300 miles? I did note that they got one in Murdo, SD now, so a guy that didn't mind driving on the interstate could go out I-90 to Murdo and then cut down to North Platte.

Anything happening with the strike?
I'm heading up that way this weekend. When we drove the Prius Prime, we made one stop from Ft. Worth to SF. It's about 12-13 hour drive. The range is about 650 miles. We usually head north up 81 once we get to Wichita (technically Salina) KS.

With an EV, it would take at least one more stop, probably 2.

We took that road from Murdo through Valentine, NE a bunch of times. Had to spend the night in Murdo around Thanksgiving of '93 due to a bad storm.

Two of these on Doctors parking… 500+ range and 200 mile quick charge in 12 minutes and very fast off the line with advertised 0-60 in 1.89 seconds…

Now if Lucid would price match Tesla.

Wait just a cotton pickin minute, it says "Inspired by California"! Does that mean you're going to poke yourself in the butt with a hepatitis infected needle when you sit down in it or step in feces? :ROFLMAO:

You are correct for local driving but not for tripping.

Dendrites growing through separator plates WILL damage lithium ion batteries. Fully charging any EV battery pack and letting it set for days in near hundred degrees temps is a No No. My Tesla will not Supercharge beyond 98%.

Lithium ion batteries resist charging best around 140 F more or less. One reason new Tesla batteries now lasts 200K-300K miles is due to active battery temperature manage.

Tuesday when I told Blue to navigate home she set up all the charging stops and the software would start heating the battery with enough time to get the temperature set that was desired before the next charge and stop. Immediately after fully charged .Then the air conditioner will start pumping cold fluid through the lithium ion battery pack to get it cooled back down but if you're hitting the road it's down to 80% in pretty short order. SpaceX rocket science is found in all Teslas today..

For your future Tesla info use the Tesla Manual. Old husbands EV tales can cost you greatly. :(

You said a bunch of words, but confirmed what he said. You charge up to 80% and you are supposed to stay above 20%, which means you only get about 60% of a 'tank' per charge. So, for a 300 mile 'range' you only get 240 miles on the first tank (assuming you were at 100%) and 180 miles after that. The point here isn't that you can find super chargers, or not. It is that even with the 'long range' you have to make many more (and longer) stops than if you were in a Prius Prime.

I don't have any issues with people who want to drive an EV. Just don't pretend they are the same when driving long distance. Your trip of 1600 miles would mean about 8 'fuel' stops. In my Prime it would have been 3 stops. 10 gallons each. Minutes per stop and I don't have to plan stops around specific fueling stations (just an added bonus). 5 additional stops, even at 20 minutes a piece is over an hour and a half longer trip (and that is best-case).

You know that does not square with what I said. I charge to 98% and I will go as low as I need to to get to my next point. But I try never to go more than 10% below. But I'll go to zero before left on the side of the road.

100% is greater than 100% as far as the battery is concerned and 0% is greater than 0%.

Don't buy into old husbands EV tales using EV fud.

Just use what Tesla says about their cars. Just like some people will slowly damage their tractor by exceeding limits, what you say you are doing is outside what Tesla says you should do. Even with a full 100%, you only get 1/2 the range of a Prime, so twice the stops and longer stops. It doesn't matter how you spin it, the math means longer trips once you exceed the range.
