Good Evening Guys,
Oh Boy Kilroy, I can see it now, couple years down the road and we will be seeing you on Forged In Fire !!;) All of TBN will be your fan base !!:)

Lou, it seems funny after being a toolmaker/modelmaker for most of my adult life, that I am being checked for drug use in my second career ! I dont know who dreams up all these rules and laws, but it certainly seems like overkill to me !

Had grandkids over for awhile today ! Everyone had pizza, they all seem to like that, especially when Nana is buying !:giggle:

Hope all have a great evening!! 🙏
Well, it is our eleventh anniversary, which is traditionally steel, and Mrs found a “Forge Your Own Knife” place in Pigeon Forge, so we just booked for Hos&Hera, which is why I was able to persuade her to let me buy this anvil, and I will put her to work straightening a bucket of nails I have scavenged from pallets I have repurposed,so she can get in the rhythm of swinging a hammer…

aint I a nice guy, getting her ready for her class? 😂🤣😂

The serial number on the big anvil can be traced back to when it was manufactured by Hay-Budden Brooklyn NY. If remembering it right it was 1918. It was the first manufacturer for US made anvils. Up to that point it was imported. They were also unique in forging the top half and mating it to the bottom half making it more resistant to edge damage. Only hammering on red hot metal minimize the wear and damage.
The Swedish anvil may be traced back by the serial number as well.

The issue with sodenfors anvils is that for sodenfors, anvils were A Sideline, and there seems to be little consistency with what was marked.., some had dates, some didn’t.. some had names, some didn’t…

but I can say from my last two days of research, I did pretty good with this one. Right now, on ePrwy, sorenfors anvils are running from$850 to $16500+ !!!

I just spent the last half-hour peening a scythe blade I picked up two weeks ago - it is a short 14”weed blade, it had obviously been wheel turned rather than peened, but I got the blade thinned somewhat and now I need to hone it, but it is FAR easier peening on an anvil horn than the little traditional peening anvil that fits in your pocket…

Back home. Made good time on a nice day. Trees turning nice at the farm. Big hole in the middle where the maple was removed last summer.
Power company installed a new pole at his house last week, new wires even. It was placed closer to house, so closer to the trees next to house. Guess they will be out trimming it back more now.
The one with the red leaves on top, dad pushed it out of the hog lot back in late 70's with the dozer, and planted it there. It was probably 15-20 ft then. The tree to it's right is a hemlock, from down around the cave area. Dad also transplanted it years ago.

The weather guessers were all excited yesterday....
El Nino was confirmed at 99% probability through the winter. That means cooler and wetter weather for the region. Being we didn't have a monsoon season, the moisture would be welcome
Which, of course, means the exact opposite for me.

Very warm temperatures and drought. Bushfire 'season' has already started and farmers are considering livestock reductions... water and fodder shortage being considered.

These 2 photos are the same place. Sure has grown up since grandpa passed away.
Found an old tractor in the old garage, my uncle put it there.

Around 75 years apart.
