56F going to mid sixties. Cloudy. After 4 days of rain it will be good to get after it. Lawn is still wet. I'm ready for a pretty day. Supposed to warm up next week.

Still getting peaches from the farm stand but they will be over soon. Still pretty good.

Take care.

Chris

Very nice!

I will be nice to be able to pound on metal with a proper anvil instead of the disc brake rotors or train rail piece (a 3/4” slice - useful for getting into hollow objects but only if they are flat), or the 3” think piece do 3” billet steel that was Grandpa’s Nail Straightener… or Great-Grandpa’s Columbia’s vise (very bad form, I know, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do…)

Made pancakes this morning. "Use by" date on the package is March 14, 2018. They were still good, but I'll need to put it on the shopping list...

BEF, if you had really liked that property, would you sell the other land you just bought ? It does look like beautiful property !

Yes, flipping the VA lot if we find something we like better.
The benefit of WV is no building permits, no zoning. Which is also a downside. If you follow Mike Morgan on YouTube, this is in the area of his WV property.
But would take some dirt moving to make a good build site.

Another anvil update:

after a mild exfoliation with a wire wheel, I have discovered it is not 137lbs:

here are some clearer images of other markings, after wire wheel and coat of oil:

now it looks like a proper anvil, not a rusty relic—-

I am now prepared to repel any pesky coyotes!

I need to convert an old tire rim into a forge. I have an old Century projector cooling fan that I can wire up to an old sewing machine pedal for forced air. I do need to start scrounging some tongs up, or even making some myself!

without wrecking your toe, can you weigh that anvil yourself Kilroy?
Did the Swedes put every pound in?
reminds me of that tool guy on youtube
"we're going to test that!"

anvils, tongs, when all the lights go out, back to the iron age.
darned good skill.
when the EMP wrecks all your laser guided cnc's and replicators,
anvil would be mighty handy

Lou, you are a man of many talents.
several folks here have QC or whatever the current term is background

specification certification. That sounds grand enough. ;)

figuring out how to ensure 100 percent product quality is very interesting.
many industries have allowable numbers of all kinds of bugs and fecal matter, in small amounts of course.
none of us want to eat that. but maybe that's ok in non food items.
so how do you engineer it out?
Even the water you use likely has "forever chemicals" in it.
maybe a good RO setup would get rid of enough

enough unloaded, food in, will do clothes later, but first have to go mow the lawn
nice day, no hardship though my neck hurts, will keep my soft collar on.
and I bet I have some sweet peppers to pick

home sweet home
