this place was less than one mile from my last rv campground
I was/am curious as to what they do there. Ominously secluded.
The whole area deals with stuff that goes boom
big badda boom...

without wrecking your toe, can you weigh that anvil yourself Kilroy?
Did the Swedes put every pound in?
reminds me of that tool guy on youtube
"we're going to test that!"

anvils, tongs, when all the lights go out, back to the iron age.
darned good skill.
when the EMP wrecks all your laser guided cnc's and replicators,
anvil would be mighty handy

Lou, you are a man of many talents.
several folks here have QC or whatever the current term is background

specification certification. That sounds grand enough. ;)

figuring out how to ensure 100 percent product quality is very interesting.
many industries have allowable numbers of all kinds of bugs and fecal matter, in small amounts of course.
none of us want to eat that. but maybe that's ok in non food items.
so how do you engineer it out?
Even the water you use likely has "forever chemicals" in it.
maybe a good RO setup would get rid of enough

enough unloaded, food in, will do clothes later, but first have to go mow the lawn
nice day, no hardship though my neck hurts, will keep my soft collar on.
and I bet I have some sweet peppers to pick

home sweet home
Mrs and I just put it on a 21” tall pine round, I am not going to put it on the scale. I guess it may be a little lighter than that, what with the chips out of the edge of the table. But yeah — if there is an EMP my 1949 South Bend lathe and assorted hand tools and now the anvil will work regardless —- I just have to go back to my high-school days of puttering around instead of doing thumb exercises on the tablet 🤣😂🤣

I need to convert a

I need to convert an old tire rim into a forge. I have an old Century projector cooling fan that I can wire up to an old sewing machine pedal for forced air. I do need to start scrounging some tongs up, or even making some myself!
the portable forges come up sometimes on farm auctions around here. I have two of them

The serial number on the big anvil can be traced back to when it was manufactured by Hay-Budden Brooklyn NY. If remembering it right it was 1918. It was the first manufacturer for US made anvils. Up to that point it was imported. They were also unique in forging the top half and mating it to the bottom half making it more resistant to edge damage. Only hammering on red hot metal minimize the wear and damage.
The Swedish anvil may be traced back by the serial number as well.

We went up to Mousetown this afternoon. It is a small single lane dirt road with speed over 5 MPH being too bumpy and having to back up a long way if we meet any traffic. But interesting drive that we make at times

Good Evening Guys,
Oh Boy Kilroy, I can see it now, couple years down the road and we will be seeing you on Forged In Fire !!;) All of TBN will be your fan base !!:)

Lou, it seems funny after being a toolmaker/modelmaker for most of my adult life, that I am being checked for drug use in my second career ! I dont know who dreams up all these rules and laws, but it certainly seems like overkill to me !

Had grandkids over for awhile today ! Everyone had pizza, they all seem to like that, especially when Nana is buying !:giggle:

Hope all have a great evening!! 🙏
