We use Gevalia Traditional Roast and use the Mocamaster coffee maker
We use the Gevalia Dark Royal Roast, running it through an old Cuisinart that will take the pods. I normally have two cups per morning occasionally a third.

Good morning! Low of 54°, heading towards 86°. Broken clouds this morning, 30% chance of a t-storm. Tomorrow through Wednesday have 60-80% chances of rain. Possibly up to an inch over the 3 days.
I hope that the storms do set up like they did for Kyle and Don.......

After discussing with the wifey, I'm going to hold off on any more dismantling of the deck / porch roof until after the rain. I was hesitant to stop, being somewhat doubtful of the forecast.... but, the hype coming from the guessers is increasing, so why take a chance?

Don't want my new construction materials being soaked for 3 days.... BTDT before.... not fun to replace twisted / bowed lumber....

Fired up the smoker this morning, brisket in place getting a good dose of applewood smoke. I'm anticipating a 14 hour burn at around 190-200°. Total weight just over 10 lbs ......
Paul, does this sound about right? And what do you think would be a good internal temp? --- I was thinking 165°?

Never had successful brisket smoking with previous attempts. This was a better cut, from a restaurant supplier. Hopefully that will make a difference......

Going to do some piddling and small jobs while monitoring the smoker. I'm sure I can find plenty to do.

Everyone have a great day!
You want a final internal temp of 205F. Whn I do a full brisket I like to stabilize the temp in the cooker at 225 and put it in before going to bed, and then check it when I wake up. The last hour I crank the temp up to set the bark, I am not a fan of then”Texas Crutch” on a full brisket, but will do it on a smaller piece like a pointe So o can have it finished in about 3-4 hours.

do any of you have a favorite coffee?
one you drink as a treat?
My memory is that some high mountain Guatemalan coffee was the best tasting
coffee I've had.
Expresso is too strong for me.
But I did like Lavazza, but not their expresso.
Europeans must have hair on their chests...

I've tried to save money with the least expensive stuff, I always shop by cost per pound, and since my friend is in
the business and I know what this stuff costs wholesale, let's say the stuff in the grocery store has quite a markup.
For a treat, I crack into the carefully hoarded supply of Kona Joe.

67F and partly cloudy @ 19:45, heading down to around 56F for the overnight low.

High here today was 77.4F.

Unfortunately I missed most of that, was up in the wee hours this morning with gastro-intestinal issues, ended up sleeping until nearly 15:00.

Once I did get up I did end up getting sucked into the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey @ Laguna Seca. What a mess that was.

After that I headed out and finished up mowing the front which I got 90% done yesterday after cleaning the underside of the deck. Lawn has gotten pretty thick which I attribute the rain we got ... although it has a lot of weeds in it. It hasn't been sprayed in years.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get the big sprayer ready to go in the coming days and hit it with the generic equivalent of Tenacity which was recommended to me by a local friend.

The active ingredient, mesotrione, is based on a naturally occurring compound produced by the bottlebrush plant (Callistemon citrinus) that inhibits photosynthesis in susceptible plant species. Consequently it is a "natural" product ... although I don't think I'd be inclined to consume it ... ;)

Once the front lawn was cut I hooked up the tow-behind spreader and put another 3 bags of fall turf food on the areas down here around the house.

Woman was out earlier and had left Her phone here when She left, had 3 calls come in in rapid succession. I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer it.

Apparently it was another friend of our neighbor lady friend which The Woman hadn't put in her contacts yet.

Sadly, our neighbor lady friend's son, the one with bone cancer that had his femur removed, passed today. Woman was over there last night around 23:00 helping out as he was in distress. She's over there right now comforting Peggy.

Horrible situation ... :(

Hope everyone is having a decent evening.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 8.2C (decidedly opposite of the predicted, frosty, 1C!) and it's presently 15.3C, fairly calm with light cloud.

I'll get to Paddock #5 clean-up in a while + the water hose section replacement. Later on I've got a Parish Council meeting over at the Church Hall @ 1630.

Coffee-wise, I use a "Nespresso" capsule system. Currently enjoying a 'Bianco Forte' barista blend (for milk). I get the capsules delivered.

That's about it, take care all.

Guess I shouldn’t complain almost 4 years for a free watch.
Yes and thanks to you I got a free watch also for the a-fib study. It is still working good and no a-fibs. However a neighbor has an Apple Watch and his watch told him he was in A-Fib, he ignored it because he was feeling ok, but his wife made him go to the dr.

The Dr. was annoyed that he made an appointment because of his watch but when they hooked him up he actually was in A-Fib.

CONFESSIONS OF SOME COFFEHOLICS:

Our regular machine is a Saeco Magic DeLuxe that I found several years back at a Habitat ReStore for $100. It is about a $1500 machine, grinds beans fresh for each cup. We normally feed it the “38” Roast from Stocking Mill Roasters.

in addition, we have a Corningware perk pot, an enamelware camping coffee pot, several vintage aluminum and stainless perk pots, a vintage Bialetti Moak brewer, a couple briki pots for Greek coffee, and a big white enamel boiler for bulk cowboy coffee.

COFFEE: Helping people do stupid things faster for a thousand years…

Good evening! 94˚ at 7pm when I went to the garden, 87˚ now, the high today only reached 95˚, yea., fist time in a very long time under 100˚ for the high. My ONE tomato plant is blooming and had a small ripe tomato the size of a cherry tomato, but it is a Roma plant. The watermelon and cantelope are done, got about 10 good cantelope last month and no watermelons. Also pick a few ripe eggplants. The pepper plants (upper left) also have started blooming again.

Our nursery started selling Fall plants today but I wait for another two weeks before I buy any, they are quite small and they are in good care in the green house.

It is supposed to be 65˚ in the morning, time to break out the puffy jackets.
