68, glad I finished up outside before this rain arrived...nice shower. Only looking for 80.

Don, congrats on getting down to 90s. You'll be back on that tractor soon...pumpkin season around the corner.

Thomas, that's a nice looking tractor.

Don, congrats on getting down to 90s. You'll be back on that tractor soon...pumpkin season.

I wish. Knee pain will keep me sidelined this season. The owner was wanting me back but now it looks like the Spring season will be my goal after surgery and rehab.

Dave, you may want to get a couple of pliers like these to pinch off fuel hoses and prevent spills while changing fuel filters

Whoever said that we would get rain as soon as I started work on the addition----- well, you need to go get a lottery ticket.....
May have been me, maybe I should go buy a ticket....pay my idiot tax. Hope you get some rain.

Good morning! A warm 78˚ but only heading to the upper 90s, hope we are out of the hundreds. Our rain never came it went West of us and 0% today.
Yep, here's yesterdays rain. Missed Don and Me from both sides bookended.

Mostly, sorry about your flat. How do you get a ride from so far away? cell phone and mama to the rescue?

I shot a squirrel yesterday morning with my shotgun, and some scared horse owner over at the rodeo grounds called the sheriffs on hearing "gunfire".
The sheriff deputy laughed when he talked with me. I said, "Yes, that was me, I shot a squirrel with my shotgun, do you want to see it?" We live on 25 acres, and I made sure I was shooting in a safe direction the other way. For those who don't know, birdshot shotgun pellets don't travel much further than 200 yards, if that far. And they are about 1/2 the size of a BB. The scared horse owner had to be at least 300 yards away. I was shooting in the opposite direction. Deputy told me some stories of some idiots and their stray bullets. We had bought some grown chickens from his wife a number of years ago.
Hope that scared person stays safe at home next time.
...Back story, I've been nursing 2 pecan trees for over 15 years, hand watering through droughts. And now 1 of them has a decent set of pecans. This squirrel has been helping itself every morning. Also may have flipped the lid off of the bird seeder and flung out 90% of the seed to get the sunflower seeds out of the mix. I asked on FB if anyone wanted to skin it for lunch. No takers.

Barn cat killed a small rat in backyard. Yay!

Might get double church today. Going to my old church early, and going to my friend's church later (where there will be a nacho bar after church).

Daughter's 03 impala still having tranny problems. Slips in 4th/lockup. Tranny has 200K on it. There are videos of repairing it while still in the car, but a lot of ball bearings fall out when you take it apart. Never have done it before but getting up the gumption to do it. Need some cooler weather, which may be on the way.

Loaner Traverse needs a new torque converter due to shudder while lightly accelerating. At least I think that's what it needs. Big job.

Maybe I can sell some vehicles and get a better ride, but to get some decent coins, I will need to repair them first...I can fix a lot of stuff for 1 or 2 car payments worth of parts.

I hope all of you have a great and blessed day. And do something nice for loved ones. Prayers.

Good Morning.
67 and wet. Going To 75 and staying wet.

Yesterday started with playing at a fundraiser for a dog rescue. It was a surprisingly large event. There were some issues with their PA and the stage monitors, but they got worked out, and the show went well. We were the first act of several, worked out great, I was on my way home by 1pm.

We got a nice note from the organizers after the event- “You guys got rave reviews from everybody I talked to yesterday, they loved the mix of songs you did, thought you were all great musicians and overall it was a major plus for our fair. We broke all records in fund raising with the money we brought in, in sales and raffles, a major shot in the arm for our rescue.”

The weather held off until about 6pm, when the skies opened up leaving us over an inch or rain and the lighting lit the skies. My wife noticed water dripping from the dining room ceiling, which is on the first floor.
Normally that would indicate a plumbing leak rather than a roof leak because it was dry on the second floor.
However after cutting open the wet ceiling, the drain pipe was wet on the top. At the tee for the vent going vertical. So today started with an excursion to the roof, where I found this-

Some Henry wet roof patch turned it into this-

Got it done just before another downpour bringing .3” in a short time. Pipes are dry now. I’ll wait a little while for ceiling to dry out before patching it.

Nice and balmy 60° out this morning. Day two of 12 with the little man his parents are in Rome for their 10 year anniversary.

Creeped on them this morning and looks like they made it there in one piece.

Got the trailer hooked to the truck. Fixing to go get some lumber to build a deck and ramp out on our property for our camper. Also need to pick up some 3" pvc and a few fittings so I can hard pipe the septic line.

Power hasn't been hooked up out there so I'll have to fire up the generator.

Morning all, high 77 and rain.
Need to finish up last few wires and wrap mini-split today. Rain not gonna help.

Yesterday went well for my son. Band practice here, load car with various drum parts, amps, guitars, bass, drive to venue, play, reload, drive back, unload.

The kids started arriving for party, pool prep, food out, more kids arrive.

Son told us about 5-10, so 20+ showed up..
Went and picked up 5-guys for 20 and finally got most of them out by 12:30 with a few sleepovers still over in the apartment.

Cleanup ongoing, they did get a few hours pool time before the storm hit, had to get them cleared out just as the lightning/rain started and into the house.

Sodamo - that apple watch seems to be made by timex (based on the ability to take a licking and keep on ticking).

Don - what's your recipe for fig newtons?
I still have about 50-60 figs ready to harvest, the rest the birds and bugs have been enjoying.

PopGadget - sounds like a fun and productive days for the rescue.

Trying to figure out how to keep rain off the area outside where I need to work. I feel a jury rig in the works.

Be Well,

Good morning! Low of 54°, heading towards 86°. Broken clouds this morning, 30% chance of a t-storm. Tomorrow through Wednesday have 60-80% chances of rain. Possibly up to an inch over the 3 days.
I hope that the storms do set up like they did for Kyle and Don.......

After discussing with the wifey, I'm going to hold off on any more dismantling of the deck / porch roof until after the rain. I was hesitant to stop, being somewhat doubtful of the forecast.... but, the hype coming from the guessers is increasing, so why take a chance?

Don't want my new construction materials being soaked for 3 days.... BTDT before.... not fun to replace twisted / bowed lumber....

Fired up the smoker this morning, brisket in place getting a good dose of applewood smoke. I'm anticipating a 14 hour burn at around 190-200°. Total weight just over 10 lbs ......
Paul, does this sound about right? And what do you think would be a good internal temp? --- I was thinking 165°?

Never had successful brisket smoking with previous attempts. This was a better cut, from a restaurant supplier. Hopefully that will make a difference......

Going to do some piddling and small jobs while monitoring the smoker. I'm sure I can find plenty to do.

Everyone have a great day!
