Good morning! 71˚F heading to 103˚ which will be cooler than yesterday. The irrigation system can still be used only one day a week (stage 2 restrictions) so I have to supplement with legal hand watering after 7pm. This is helping the grass stay mostly green but it is growing uneven so I will mow the front this morning. My neighbor has let his yard die so there is a definite line of demarcation - brown/green between us. "They" say the grass goes dormant and will come back but I have places in the yard where it has not.
The HOA has formed a committee to explore artificial grass which is now banned.
No rain for July or August.

My tomato plant is blooming, I water it twice a day, and it's in the hose shade half the day, but it has been nibbled on. First by the deer and now by tomato worms. I finally found the two worms and re-homed them so I hope that solves the case of the disappearing leaves.

55 outside this AM, heading for mid 80's. 90% humidity.

Grass and weed whacking are the agenda. Dump and pool chemical run if the day moves along.

Hope all have a good start to the weekend, be safe. And a run of good luck is in order for all!

I also finished mowing around barn and other half of field yesterday, and picked 1 of the 2 tiny apples on the Paula red tree and had a tiny bite.
Snagglepuss is off chasing birds now. 😂

Morning, 60 going up to 80 and sunny.
Sheetrock out for delivery today.
Sons other band here for practice today. Tomorrow they play a bar in south NJ.

Last nights VFW concert went well, he's sad his 2 friends are off to college and this is the last concert with that band. He is over the one kids house a lot and that kid here.
They put out the album they recorder on bandcamp last night, TBOT is the band name (The Bottom OF This). One of our friends from a few towns over showed up, and we caught up a bit after the concert.

Did a quick takeout at Halal Brothers for Gyro's after that.

Buppies, prayers for you that this all heals up

BEF - I used Fusilade on the STiltgrass. It did kill some of it and slowed the growth on the rest. Only spray I found that even affects that stuff without killing everything around it.

Drew - sorry to hear about your experience, seems quite common from people I know who have gone through it.

Will try to get to the Grange fair tonight after dropping the kid off at work.

Well, delivery is 5-10 min away.
Be well,

My auto insurance, USAA has a discount program (safepilot) that tracks various driving aspects, one being cell phone use. Not exactly perfect as I got dinged 1 time using the Map program. But I’m on track for a 15% discount.
too much overwatch for me. I sometimes "nail it" to pass people.

Thanks, Ken. I seriously wanted to do this when we built the pool initially but various factors dissuaded me. Sophie has confirmed we should do it. She is the primary user. Expensive, but going with the Circupool Core system as it appears it can take advantage of working with just my DC pump (direct solar powered)as well as the 240v pump. 39k gallons I guess will take a lot of salt initially. The pool is self draining but rain provides about 1.5-2 refills per year. Except pumps, all plumbing is pvc. Gonna be a new adventure.
Would there be a problem for overflow of saltwater into your lawn?

Humidity is a problem further South in Texas. We are North Of I35 the humidity is only in the morning and has been mostly around 30% during the hottest part of the day 1-5 PM.
We keep the AC on 77 during the day and 73-74 at night.

Good morning! 73˚F 75% humidity, heading to 105-107˚, it's going to be a scorcher, the outside furnace will be working overtime today. We have 2 alert warnings today, excessive heat and an air quality alert - high ozone.
Humidity here has been abnormally low in the 20's late in the day, thus the high temps.

Good morning! Low of 59°, heading up to 89°. The guessers are predicting a 60% chance of a t-storm. Saw some lightning last night, storm never reached us.....

The addition, as planned, is a "go". Now need to try to plan around any 'weather guesses'..... so far, I don't have any faith in their guesses....
Not going to cut a hole in the house if it's going to rain... wait---- does it rain here?

Today's agenda is to take a ride with the wifey and Max up to Santa Fe. The family has pitched in for our anniversary and and are getting us Meyers Lemon and Mexican Lime trees from a nursery there. We'll stop for lunch somewhere.....
I can't believe that it will be 40 years together this Saturday......

Need to finish watering 2 zones when we get back. Yesterday's irrigation schedule went ok, except for the one zone that I shut off the timer...... then forgot about switching zones. Flooded out 3 planters and some landscape beds into the driveway. Is that considered a "deep watering"?

Everyone have a great day!
Sounds like a sure way to attract rain....opening up a hole in the house. Maybe I should consider it. I'm sure y'all need rain too.
Successful trip to the nursery, lemon and lime trees have a new home.
They got the stock in a couple of weeks ago, only 2 lemon trees were left. Both had a little 'crook' in the trunk about 8" up..... probably why they were left. Wifey always fights for the underdog, so it has "character"..... as the wifey called it.....

It even has a lemon growing on it already.....
They won't survive much of a freeze if it gets below 25 degrees. They say 20, but I'm suspect. My friend lives 25 miles inland from the gulf coast and his lasted for 20 years but died in our big freeze of Feb 2021. I hope yours do well.

Headed south, to work on my mom's a/c in her car. Hope to be able to just put a can of Freon in it to get us past the hump in these hot days.

RNG, good report. Sorry for the DMV bureaucracy.

I had to skip ahead for time saving this morning. sorry if I missed important stuff.

Shop light sitrep. I took down the aged 2 bulb 8 foot fixture. It had a bad ballast. Main problem is I don't like being on my ladder at the peak of my barn maybe 16'? I have 1 fixture that holds 6 T5 bulbs in it already installed maybe 2.5 years ago, with 2 bulbs burned out. I had another "spare" fixture w/bulbs waiting to install. I went ahead and installed it. These bulbs may say 50,000 hours but they are nowhere near that longevity. Now I'm seeing T5's are about $15 each at the box stores, or $5 each if you order qty 25 online. I don't need 25, but if the ballasts hold up, I guess I could use them. T5's are going away, as are most other fluorescent bulbs. They gripe about the tiniest drop of mercury in the bulbs, but don't have a problem injecting it in our bloodstreams.

sorry the Springsteen concert got cancelled.

Glad the hornets are done in.

Prayers for our team, our country and Ukraine.

good morning all
cool morning, 61 only going up to 80 today, very nice Saturday

I'm off with rv this morning to BIL's commercial shop, where his son will put rv up on lift
and install suspension parts. His son is very slow and methodical and this will take all morning I'm sure.
Two holes have to be drilled through the frame, hard stuff, glad I have that new set of super hard drills.
His father and I will be double checking his lift points; visions of rv falling off lift...
I know nothing about heavy truck lifts, but father and son do.

had a surprisingly bad experience at hospital getting MRI last night. For first time in my life, after having many of these, granted most
in larger machines, I had a real panic attack in the machine. Made mistake of opening my eyes when inside, top 1/2 inch from my nose,
I'm not a small guy and really fill up that space. Felt trapped, suffocating, heart pounding and hyperventilating.
Pushed the button and he got me out quickly. We settled, and I tried again. No luck. Embarrassed, had to say I couldn't do it.
Need to find an open MRI. Thankfully the tech was good and did not make me feel like a jackass. Which I did.

I keep in mind Mickey Mantle only hit one out of three. I sure swung and missed on this one.
will find a plan B and keep on trucking
Drew a small dose (.5) of Lorazepam will help. Ask your doctor for a prescription before you go to the next MRI. I am getting one in November, but only for my knees. I guess I’m going to bite the bullet and get the replacement for both knees!😵‍💫

Good Morning. Much needed rain on the way today! Category 4 hurricane off the coast of Baja Mexico due to hit Southern Cal this afternoon and evening. Rains lasting for 2 days. Boy we need the water. Last good rain was in April or May. Hope there is not too much damage with this storm.
Going to finish up some retention pond clean and shape up at a neighbors place this AM. I took 5 hrs pay but the job keeps growing - dunno if I can get it all done to my satisfaction in the time aloted. Homeowner asked if I can move dirt over there last night instead of just concentrating on storm prep. That cut my productivity on the pond... as I explained.
Got my own preparation to finish too.
Tentatively excited for a big rain event. (y)
