As to the strap ratchets, they are required to be on the driver's side.

I am a trucker. Have been for over 40 years. I've never heard of that rule. The law requires them to be alternated in many cases.

I stand corrected. I'd thought my information came from a trucker, but apparently not.

I added one to my GMC 2500HD and wow is the display dim. I contacted Curt and they were highly responsive and even sent me a complimentary replacement. But the display was the same as the one I had. They said they dimmed the display down because of nighttime driving complaints. I have no concerns about the quality, but I tow during the day most of the time. I wonder if the 51146 model would have been a better choice.

Why all the locks when you could have used zip ties? Where is the duct tape?

Good question. Those 3-dial combo locks are rated for at least 20k lbs, right?

All this setup just to lower the hitch height by a few inches? It's befuddling.
