New outlet next to my lazyboy is done and working, along with 4 additional basement outlets to finish that job. Now I can finish drywall in that basement corner, but it has lower priority.

Found the one elusive Christmas decoration that was hiding in plain sight. It seems that every year, something gets left out..... I'll get it up into the storage loft today. At least I know which tote it goes in.

... and you just reminded me about my last, obscure yet obvious, Christmas decoration that I needed to take down. I did it as soon as I saw your post (so I wouldn't constantly forget to do it). It's now waiting in the middle of the stairs to get stored upstairs.

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 5:15AM. Cloudy with showers. High 49F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
Yesterday was dry until noon, with showers on and off the rest of the day. Looks like more of the same today.
Wet Wednesday, then dry for the rest of the 10-day. Maybe the Pacific High is coming back?

Back in high school I learned to use a lathe very similar to your Craftsman, Ron. Many years later I had a South Bend 9" bench lathe with a milling attachment. When the economy tanked in '07 I found a machine shop that was going out of business and picked up a Morton FEL-1340, which I later learned was the same as an Enco Turn-Pro 1340. It came with a ton of tooling and a nice DRO, and was my first time using insert tooling and a quick change tool post. It's the best washer and spacer maker I've ever had...

Neat story about the couple and dog riding motorcycles around the world. That BMW would be my last choice to ride, though. They're difficult and expensive to maintain, and they're heavy for the power they make. I also can't imagine riding off road two-up with a dog. Camping gear is heavy enough without having something back there that moves around on its own. I wish nothing but good luck for them, but, well, I won't say it.

My friend in Lompoc had a walk through of a house they found on Zillow. The big deal for me was that it has a 15x30 bonus room of unconditioned space that would fit all my shop tools, in addition to a two car garage. And maybe even enough room for a shipping container in the back yard. I'm anxious, though, as the place was built in '59, and though it looks like it's been upgraded in the past, even that was quite a while ago. It has a slab foundation, and I wonder what shape the plumbing is in as it would be a nightmare digging up a leaking pipe. And of course it's priced way above what it's worth. It's already been on the market more than a month, so I don't think it's going anywhere soon, especially with interest rates on a tear. But it has got me thinking about how nice it would be to live in a safer place within walking distance of shops and restaurants. And cheek-to-jowel with neighbors, a daunting proposition...

We just gave away a Leblond lathe (to another part of the school), that had room for it. Also a tired Bridgeport, and horizontal saw We have 2 Jet lathes still, in one lab for the students. The 1340 has a "groan" in the headstock probably main bearings. Took the lid off, cleaned out the old oil/sludge and replaced with fresh oil. Still groans. I talked to the professor about replacing it. He seemed receptive.

We have another lab/shop at work that is about to get an overhaul. I'm awaiting higher authority to see what we can place in the space. I want a Haas TL1 lathe.TL-1 | Toolroom Lathes | 8" Chuck | 10" Chuck | Lathes – Haas CNC Machines

Don, here's where I got the beet root juice idea? Do you eat citrus? your video talked like ascorbic acid keeps the nitrates out of your system, unless you fool it with plants.

And I was listening to a heart doctor on the radio this AM, and he was saying that inflammation is the culprit of heart disease, which he blamed for most people it is caused by too much genetically modified modern grains. He preferred a moderation of a diet, with carb reduction as a factor. IIRC his last name was Dukeman or something like that. He said that for most people, if you get the right eggs, they don't raise your bad cholesterol but actually help your good cholesterol. Farm raised with high omega feed.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 15C and it's presently 18.1C, overcast, calm with a steady drizzle. There was 2mm in the gauge at 0900.

I'll need to do a trip into town to get those 'mini' fuses for the tractor. They're 'just in case' spares as I haven't had a fuse blow on the tractor in the 10 years that I've had it. I need to fill a couple of 20ltr jerry cans (petrol/diesel) then get some charcoal for the spit-roaster.

Other 'preps' for Sunday's soiree will come up as they come to mind. Anticipating 45+ attending.
