Good Morning!!!! 38F @ 6:45AM. Mainly sunny. High 54F. Winds light and variable.
We got another 0.04" of rain yesterday, but it took all afternoon to fall. With the clouds clearing out overnight, the temps are now down into the 30s. Looking forward to some outside time today, probably dismantling the flying porch cover.
As you say, Billy, I'll miss the lake views, particularly at sundown, but I won't miss the smoke, fires, and especially the wind. Might miss the campfire ring, too, but that depends on the yard at the new place. No hurry in any of that, though, as I'm still looking for a good general location, and the Santa Maria idea still needs some on the ground exploring.
Gosh Paul, I guess you missed page 284 in
The Real Man's Handbook about always replacing any TV with a much bigger one?
Good point about sleep, Ron. I'm lucky if I get 6 hours, and I'm always up around 5AM no matter what time I hit the sack. Eating is similarly flexible, which mostly depends on my hunger level, not the time of day.
Yesterday was an inside day doing paperwork, then some garage time clearing off the welding table and workbench. A few months ago I got some holders for the Makita power tool batteries, and yesterday I finally got around to installing them on the inside of one of the cabinet doors. That was the price paid for more space on the welding table.
I did take a phone call from one of the Directors of our Airheads motorcycle club. Once again, three of the other Directors have formed a majority and are taking the club that is not at all popular with the members. They started by firing the club's magazine editor, who also founded and wrote the bylaws, they say because he published non-relative content in his editorials. Hmmm, isn't that stuff allowed in editorial content? I think it's because one or more of them coveted his $1200/month salary. But then they said there would be no more content published from a long dead but still well regarded mechanical guru due to an agreement that none of said content would ever be published electronically. I'm guessing maybe 1/3 of the members never go on the internet and don't even have email addresses, so their only access to not only those tech articles, but the BoD minutes, is through the newsletter that the BoD wants to offer electronically in the future. A similar thing happened a few years ago, and the election at the end of that year saw a sweep and new BoD members, so I'm guessing that's the way this'll go, too. Now it's just a matter of how many people will quit between now and them. I think I'll be one of them so I'll miss out on the drama.
Finally heard back from the insurance estimator who will be forwarding a preliminary payment based on her estimate. She's already indicated there will be additional payments after she reconciles her estimate with the one from the contractor. I also heard back from the roofer that patched over the stove pipe hole, and he's also preparing an estimate. He's not planning to replace the stove pipe chase, and instead will use guy wires to hold the stove pipe in place. Once I have the two estimates in place, I'll pick one to go with.
Gonna let it warm up a bit more before I tackle anything outside, but not sure what I'll get into...
