As I recall, wasn't that the ladder from the mudfest, Randy? Hope it served it's purpose well.
That's it exactly. I finally unpacked it and actually read the Owner Manual that came with it. :D

Who'd have thought that a ladder required an Owner Manual, but it sure required one for all the things/adjustments you can do with it.

It is, indeed, working out well. Especially around uneven ground. It's very steady too.

good morning all
up early, mighty cold out, 21 going to 41 but that seems warm compared to others

mouth feeling better, still taking penicillin, can feel where soreness went all the way down into jaw.
not sure why I seem prone to this

off this morning to supermarket to get fixings for warm cider. Going to make that for ex-wife coming for a Christmas visit with husband.
And I'll pawn off some of the cookies given to me; if I ate this stuff I'd head straight to the diabetes clinic.
I try to find friends with kids to offload them.
ex wife's husband is a good friend, 12 years into a multiple mylenoma (sp?) where you are only supposed to last ten years.
And treatment last time did not work.

only exception to cookies is Popgadget's little xmas cake he gave me. Spice date walnut, just yummy.
I admit that only lasted 24 hours in my house it was so good. Now that was quality calories.
trick is to avoid the junk and cherry pick the good stuff.

woke up and house was warm. Too warm. Hmmm. Ok, there's the cause, left the electric radiator on in office, thankfully set on 70.
I'm paranoid about electric heaters, even with radiator types, I never leave home with them left on.
Though clearly sometime I fall asleep forgetting. Well, floor in office is nice and warm on my toes. (y)

Poured first cup of coffee. 21° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 30° cloudy skies. Forgot to buy Sassy her Christmas toy while out shopping on Monday. As always I left my list at home. Went to Menards and spent some time making a the right choice. Topped off car with $2.68 per gallon gas. When I got home did final check of Tractor. Checked oil, fuel and put battery tender on battery. Sprayed snow plow with PAM. I think I am ready for Thursday/Fridays weather.
Woodpeckers like to peck at this tree. I have seen as many as 4 at a time on it.

Drew, thats kind of high for electric. My bill for electric and NG was $220 last month. NG is to heat my 1700 sf house and 450 sf shop. Stay warm. I have a electric heater for making back bathroom extra warm when I take a shower. Set temperature and it has a timer to set how long it will heat. I forget to turn it off if I do not set timer.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

after reading an article on the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, I looked it up on Google Maps and wandered nearby.
Well this Eastern boy was amazed at what he saw. There to the s/w of Amarillo is the Randall County Feedyard.
If you zoom in on this, all the way in, all those tiny ants are cows.
So that's where the steaks come from...

had to chuckle, there are several small rv campsites not far away.
I wonder if they are prepared for the smell. that's a lot of cow poop

Ron, my late wife never turned anything off....so I'm used to high electric bills. My NC farm bill was always over 200 dollars.
Three hvacs running in NC summer pushed that up to 500 at times.
Money down the drain I know, but I can't do much better in this very poorly insulated cottage. At least thirty years ago they put in Andersen windows.
I'm sure I need another layer of blown in insulation up in the attic.

my arthritis and the cold are not friends at all.

I have stayed at Campsites in Amarillo. Never noticed the smell. Restaurant has a shuttle service for RV parks to take you to dinner. I never did it. Way to much food.

Good morning, low temp 16 and a high of 19°F. Wind W 13 mph. 40% chance of flurries. Snowing right now and we've got about an inch since it started.

Tractor has over 1/2 tank of fuel, I will fill it after I plow next. The V-plow has shoes on the bottom, so I don't scalp the lawns with it, unlike the bucket which has teeth and I can make a right mess with it. We don't have enough snow for the V-plow, I just wanted to see how it would work for my application.

I would rather smell that 'fresh country air' from cows than pigs.
Once upon a time I had 26 laying hens in a 20x20' hen house along with 4 ducks and two geese. Through straw on the floor and in the nest boxes, when it go a bit wet in winter I just put in more straw.
Clean them out in the spring and again in the fall. They do get ripe.
Isn't it strange that we eat something that comes out of a chickens butt?

daugan, blown insulation will settle over the years. I put Roxal bats R22 insulation in the attic right over top of the blown. I put it cross ways on top of the trusses. It helps and mice don't like it.

I am not sure what I will be getting into today, but rest assured it wont be much.

Stay safe and healthy you guys

Happy Winter Solstice, later today. I'm sure we'll notice the days getting longer before too long.

21 here, too. Looking for 45 before tomorrow's rain. Later in week shows a little snow and maybe single digit low.

Great trip and pix LS. Wish you had more time with your daughter. We are debating whether to take one more trip out west before getting a new puppy to replace Coco. You may get lots of visitors. :)

Ron, the Boss woodpecker at our feeders is the red-bellied, but those downies hold their ground pretty well. Thanks for keeping the pix coming.

Had a low energy day yesterday, but managed to find some relatively new LP tanks to swap for my empties. First store I tried...the tanks were older than mine...then tried Walmart...saved 6 bux and got pretty new, nice condition tanks. Later sharpened a chain for the saw...pretty proud of the job...one of my best, although the chain is getting "short" in the tooth. A friend stopped by to pick up some chairs, so shot the breeze for a while.

Good Morning.
It’s 19 with a high in the upper 30’s and sunshine for today.
Snow is likely for a short time tomorrow morning before turning to rain through Friday, and then temps take a dive, won’t get above 20 until the middle of the week. So it looks like a cold, but not white Christmas.
Funeral was as nice as a funeral can be, had a nice visit and lunch with his family afterwards, Bill was one of those guys with a heart of gold that kept it well hidden. We shared many stories to prove that. He made to 95, and didn’t suffer in the end. Hard to ask for more than that.
Did a small plumbing job at the restaurant afterwards, spent no time in the shop.
Today I’ll put the plumbing tools away, do some more puppy preparation, and see what pops up. Tonight we are going to take the grandson to Peddlers Village to see all the lights and decorations, and then get some dinner.

PJ, glad that new job is going well. I’m sure it’s nice not to have to worry about bullet holes in your car (or yourself) as well.

It may be time for a red-dot sight. Upgrade the classic with some newfangled crap—- but those dot sights do work!
Yes they do work. Actually have one on the Glock 19 and it works really well

Goooood Morning TBN,
Presently 26F, which is the low of the night. Lots of sunshine with temps heading for the mid 40's.

SWMBO says we have some shopping to do, no idea what that is going to entail.

Found the cables and moved the house CD player to the stereo cabinet. Hooked it up and now SWMBO can listen to her music... made her a happy camper. Due to aluminum siding, listening to the radio is a no go. I'm too lazy to put an FM antenna on the roof and feed the cabling down thru the attic, the second floor to the first floor.

Need to get the corners of my new shop laid out and staked before the ground freezes on Friday.

Quiet day otherwise.

daugen said, "after reading an article on the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, I looked it up on Google Maps and wandered nearby."

It's been a long time since we ate there. I was doing a small job in Amarillo and staying there in our motorhome and our younger daughter and her son (pre-school age at the time) came up to visit one weekend and we took them to eat at the Big Texan and I ordered the mountain oysters without telling then what that was and they found they were quite good.

Our forecast low temperature for tomorrow night is 10°. Now I know that's nothing unusual for many of you, but it's unusual for us and we sure hope there's no power outage in the area.

Good morning all. Cold 22 this morning but going to 40 or so but colder weather on the way with low of 5 on Saturday in the forecast

Ted, still looking at your pics. Thanks for sharing

Yesterday coated the v plow with another layer of Lanolin from the fluid film. The stuff in the gallon can had turned into being too thick to spray so brushed it on. One of the Boss plow springs for the mounting pin is acting up. I have a spare somewhere will look for it. When snow hits it pays to be ready.

We visited Amarillo since we had a kid hospitalized there. We stayed at the Palo Duro Canyon in our motorhome

Apropos of nothing whatsoever, as a former Glock Armorer for a state-level LE agency, IMNSHO the two best upgrades you can do on a Glock are: 1)installing the 8lb New York Trigger Spring and the 3.5lb connector - it gives the stock 5.5lb pull BUT removes all the creep, so you get a great trigger job for under $30; and 2) Brooks AGrip appliqué grip wrap - it is super thin, it is not scratchy like the stair-tread-type grip enhancers, and your grip actually improves when it is wet! (I have no association with nor am I compensated by Brooks Tactical)

Bird stay warm, old man winter has come to town

beautiful pic Frits. Looks like something from an Earth Science lecture...all that strata displaying different historical events.

Jim, you may be too remote for cable tv but sometimes that's an alternative for music, some free streaming.
FM is usually directional, AM is just long wire.

I have a gallon of fluid film in a pump sprayer. Never used it, sold the truck before I wasted the expensive stuff on it.
but never thought of it for snowblower. I've been using spray silicon. Fluid film was great on farm machinery

I'm waiting for that test guy to compare Pam, silicone, you name it.

We are too remote for cable TV, but we do have satellite TV and it includes many Sirius channels, but that means leaving the TV on. We are on the fringe of any FM reception, even with a good antenna in my shop, that has vinyl siding, reception is poor. I did pick up some bluetooth adaptors and will be hooking them up today so we will also be able to stream music to our system.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

overslept this morning - didn’t wake up until 7:20. We all have been fighting off good Ol’ fashioned bronchitis for two weeks, and finally started feeling better. I guess the body decided it needed a little extra downtime after fighting off the crud. . .

I got some grit down on the front stairs! Used up a can of Rustoleum spray paint. It just has to last until spring - I am replacing the steps, I just haven’t gotten to it, so there was no need to do it the ”right way” embedded in stain.

I use 32-grit silicon carbide blasting media for my grip grit.

I have been mentioning to MrsKilroyJC (for several months now) that we need to rent a mini-track-excavator for a couple days in order to get some major things done at the woodlot, like ditch clearing, stump pulling, land clearing, etc. so, yesterday while takingnour dog to the mountain for her big walk (it seems that we bought the lot primarily for the benefit of our dog 😂🤣) Mrs. was concerned about some boggy spots where our stream sortakinda just spreads randomly. I again said how we need to rent a track home for at least three days and that it would have to be full 12-14 hour working days to take full advantage of the rental time and she said that maybe come spring we should look into buying a trackhoe of our own.

it is always better when she comes up with the idea instead of me 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

The new hens have officially started laying! Yesterday we got 8 eggs, so depending on how many of the five original chickens dropped an egg, either three or all four of the new hens contributed to the larder.

I foresee a lot more quiches in our future. . .

I finally remembered to bring my pad up to the woodlot to photograph the offcuts rack I made out of offcuts - they are posted in the Sawmills Pictures section of TBN. It is the simplest way to do “How To Turn Slabwood Into Firewood 101”.

I am getting the last hairscut for the year today. Mrs always goes because two doors down from my barber is the Habitat For Humanity ReStore, so she gets first crack at perusing the wares while I warm a chair.

I am going to pre-load several bags with firewood for the weekend - we are allegedly going down to 3F Friday night, and similar temps are forecast for the weekend, so I won’t have to pick wood in those temps - just grab and go! I use the big IKEA blue carry bags for firewood - each hold about enough to fully fill the stove from empty, and I usually go through a bag-and-a-half a day once the fire the stove is up to full operating temps with a bed of coals. The old Vestal would take 3 bags a day minimum, and when it got to these temps 4+ bags. So the new stove is much more efficient - I am glad we don’t have to haul as much wood anymore!

have a happy healthy Hump Day everyone!

Yep.

and that part about Glock saying not to use it?

I learned about it in my first Glock Factory Armorer Course. It is a wink-wink-nudge-nudge “DO NOT DO THIS” for liability reasons.

and the best part is if you do not like the results, you can just reinstall the original parts and go back to the factory default, and all you are out is about $30 and some disassembly/reassembly time. You cannot add back material that was stoned off on a traditional trigger job.
