Glad to see you back and healthy. Yes, have missed your interesting posts.

So, lemme try again… shorter reply

All this talk about a TBN/GM gathering is exciting and would definitely look forward to it.

Paul, surprised your planes aren’t equipped for in flight refueling. Too long a swim.

Frits, I often tell people we are not postcard Hawaii.

If Captain Drew got his ship in order - transportation & accommodations.

While we do have a great place to gather, accommodations might be a bit tight. We do have 2 suites that each sleeps 3. As I have said before, GM ohana more than welcome for brief stay. And anyone wishing longer I’m sure we can come to a reasonable agreement.

OK, abbreviated version.

Got about 4 hours with the flail on Laupahoehoe end, another hour or less should finish.

Happy Hour was a pleasant break, then a pizza in the air fryer which came out great.

Drew, I’d never seen that either, but seems sensible and apparently did a good job. Likely easier and more uniform spread.

According Wiki, they are not in Americas

We have saying that they bring babies. Read last chapter of that wiki article:
According to European folklore, the stork is responsible for bringing babies to new parents. The legend is very ancient, but was popularised by a 19th-century Hans Christian Andersen story called "The Storks".[144] German folklore held that storks found babies in caves or marshes and brought them to households in a basket on their backs or held in their beaks. These caves contained adebarsteine or "stork stones". The babies would then be given to the mother or dropped down the chimney. Households would notify when they wanted children by placing sweets for the stork on the window sill.

I suppose that's because their migration is at the same time as "baby boom". Statistics show that in March there are born a bit more babies than ususally. Parents went wild ad mid-summer drinking parties and lovely surprise were delivered 9 months later:sneaky:

A busy day today.

I missed daughter's day (Sunday) so I posted a photo on FB today. Thought I'd share it here also. The photo from a few years ago, has both daughters in it. Both were adopted, Blessing us since they were very young. ❤️ 🇨🇦 ❤️

1664263891073.png

Daughter on the Left is a professional Barber at Tommy Gun's Premium Men's Barber Shop, an hour away from where I live. She is currently on maternity leave with a 7 month old boy, her husband is a pastor. She last cut my hair about 6 months ago, so I was due for a cut - I went to a local barber shop, where her former boss gave me a great cut and style today.
Daughter on the Right is a Concierge at a Hotel in Vancouver, BC. Doing very well, enjoying City Living

(it was daughter's day, but we also have a Son, who lives in the Vancouver area. He is a full sibling of daughter on the right, both arriving in Canada from Haiti in 2000)

Had a guy visiting from New FoundLand stop in this morning to see some of my cars. Purely an interest. He stopped at Rust Valley Restorers (TV) after that. I met him when he arrived in my driveway. Nice guy.

Scraps pickup at Salvation Army - good load for the truck. Delivered some chicken feed to my neighbour down the road.

Bought a nail clipper for large dogs today, hope to trim the pup's nails tomorrow.

A few errands done, Banking, groceries etc.

Bought an OBS (Old Body Style) magazine for Chevy pick-ups 1988 - 1998. Mine is a '93. Might get a few ideas for upgrades... it is a rare specialty print, so far I have 2 of 2, they are infrequent, with the last magazine purchased about 15 months ago.

Caught up with a former Probation colleague today at the grocery store. He also retired a few years ago.

Stopped in to check on my Zero Turn Mower progress, I expect that they will deliver it later this week. I will have whatever fabricating remains, done by a friend. (I was able to drive into the Farm Equipment property today, so my whining about it last week, to the people that make decisions, paid off for them in quick order ... the business is now accessible again, in spite of ongoing roadwork - yay !!!)

surprise tonight was that another chick hatched in the incubator about 2 hours ago. I was dismantling the incubator tonight for a thorough cleaning, and then I heard a peeping within a shell, so I set it up again. This was a yard egg that we found, and so it was very uncertain. But now a baby chick is here. Late in the season, but I'll take it, total BONUS. I left it in there to dry off a bit more. I think I will name it "Lottery", a complete gamble.

Tomorrow I am set to do another dump run.

48 right now...high in the mid-60's and some rain.

Up this early with the intent of going onsite...don't think I got enough energy to make the drive.

good morning all
up early, 54 now going up to 70 in sunshine
Quite a storm headed into Florida, have friends in Tampa I'm keeping in touch with.

helogabals, we really enjoy hearing from you.
Since most of us are in the US, it is really nice to hear from folks in other countries.
Reminds us of what we have in common and what brings us together, versus keeps us apart.

Scaredy, nice pic of kids, you should be proud of them. I hope puck puck Lottery grows up fine.

Roy, feel better. Buppies, please feel better too. Sorry you both are under the weather.

despite all the rolling, new driveway still a little spongy but did not show tire tracks when I first drove on it.
Was told after several rains it would pack down even tighter. I think I'll run the mower or golf cart over the edges a little more, particularly
around flower gardens where guy didn't want to get too close.

cleaning ladies coming this morning for first time. I'll be headed to the garage to work on something as vacuum cleaner noise is bad on my ears.

hope you all have a nice day.

52 outside this AM, be lucky if we break 70 today.

Will try and install window today in Milk House. Yesterday I managed to cut more grass, had a nice wind helping dispersal. It is starting to thin out, thank goodness.

BIL in FL, prepping for a Hurricane visit. He is about an hour south of Tampa. He retired and relocated down there about three years ago, so this is a new experience for him. His neighbor has a hurricane proof house and has offered it up as shelter if things go really bad.

Not much on the agenda here, paper work and lawyers still going on. Next year will be better. LOL.

Hope all feeling better this AM, be safe in what you do today.

Up early today
53 degrees cold going to 66 Fall is coming
Going for a doctors appointment this morning to get som skin rash checked.
Wife got her booster yesterday so she will skip her Methotrexate medication due tomorrow to give the booster a chance to establish antibodies

Drew, that driveway looks great

Scaredy, Nice pic of your kids. You must be very proud of your
adopted kids. We adopted among other kids a sibling group of 3 ages 1, 5 and 7. At the time we went from 3 adopted kids to 6. That changed the lifestyle big time.

Helogabais, nice pic of the stork
Growing up in Denmark where Hans Christian Andersen lived the story was that the storks living in nests on top of chimneys would fly down with a baby hanging in a diaper from the beak and young kids would believed in this similar to Santa Claus here in the US

Sodamo, yes the Big Island is nothing like what you see on TV about beaches and palm trees from Hawaii commercials.

Roy, I am glad you feel better

Good Morning
52 and won’t see 70 today, but it will be sunny.

Yesterday kept me occupied, worked on the little plane, the carb heat cable broke when my son was doing a preflight run up, leaving it in the on position. An easy fix, but a new cable was $140 for what is basically a choke cable I could have gotten at advance auto. Welcome to aviation.

Took down the last portable livestock pen from the open house and got the panels put away. Stopped by a friends with a can of “Free” penetrant, a 13/16 8pt socket and my 1100 ftlb Makita impact to see if I could get a 1” pipe plug out of a roller so he could fill it with water. He had previously tried heating it cherry red and using a wrench and a pipe. I did spray it with free a few days ago also. At any rate it came right out with the Makita.

Today I’ve got to go to Newport News again, just to drop some people off. Should be home by early afternoon, and hope to get some mowing done. The grass is back with a vengeance, making up for taking the summer off!

Good morning! I am right there with the coolest group this morning at 51˚F !!!!!!
Only expecting to go to the upper 80s today. 10˚ drop in temp makes me feel 10 years younger.

Yesterday I had a terrible experience trying to pull the okra out of the garden. I had a short sleeve shirt on and the okra was burning my arms like Bull Nettle. I had to stop and wash them but it did not help and had to go home and get some Benadryl cream. My next attempt will be with a long sleeve shirt and gloves.

Morning, 53 going up to 70.
Pool prep completed.
Dog has an infection , ran over to vets. Have to give her antibiotics etc. She finally ate this morning.
Will keep an eye on her.

Buppies - maybe time for soups and liquids so you don't get dehydrated.

Helogabals - I have three stents and am able to do 4-6 hours hard labor without too many issues. So you will get better and welcome back.

TxDon - attack Okra ?

Washing machine harness and connector fixed. seems I am always fixing this thing.

Have a great day all,

Good Morning - going to be hot again today = 100º +
Just realized > I've noticed the rabbits are gone. I have been fighting the rabbits off my lawn every year for 22 years here.
This year there are no cottontails. Weird. We are in a drought. Have been for some time.

42°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 73° today. We'll be down in the upper 30s tomorrow morning, if the predictions are true. May have to actually wear a jacket.

Glad you're still with us, Helogabals.
I heard the stork/baby story as a child as well.

Good morning, gents.
