I have a 5145 on order, 2 to 3 weeks out if all goes to plan.
I chose the 5145 for several reasons:
1. I was looking for a 2600 series but being a big guy the 5100 was much roomer and the reach up to the brakes/clutch was easier.
2. about a $4k price diff from the 5155.
3. my current ford 2000 is only 33hp and I'm on flat land near sea level so I do not need the additional power.
4. the turbo adds a lot of complexity to the engine.
5. the hot and fast spinning turbo will be the first thing to go out IMO.
6. I do not plan to run any large PTO loads or pull any large ground engaging implements at any real speed.
7. I like the fact that this is the same engine block/drivetrain as the 55 so should be more durable.
I looked at LS, Branson, TYM, JD, Kubota etc. for a 35 to 50 hp tractor with at least 2000# FEL lift capacity, the JD and Kubota were about 2x the cost for what I wanted. The LS was $5K cheaper for a tractor that was almost as comfortable, it had a turbo engine and the dealer was a lot further away but the killer was that LS will not allow customers to acquire a service manual, that killed it for me although the dealer was a good guy.
I'm just planning to clear brush/garden/build projects so the 5100 series is way more tractor than I need. The weight and lift capacity is a big plus, I ordered a 3rd function, grapple and pallet forks with it. I had to stretch the budget and CFO screamed at me a little, but ok.
It surprised me that the cost of the 5145 was less than the 2660 that I was looking at, not to mention there was a lot of stuff on the 2660 that IMO would be additional maintenance in the future, I mean seriously a plastic dial on the fender to set the engine speed? in a cab tractor maybe but I would be replacing that every time I went thru any brush. I tend to drive something until the wheels fall off and then duct tape them back on, the hour meter on my hand me down ford 2000 stopped working at 6000 hours lol.
