Thanks !
Yeah, I have born here. Just after UNI ( I am woodworking engineer) traveled a bit across EU. But now I am raising my 5 kids 100 km from village I was born. My sis never have changed her place, she still lives there, we visit her quite often.
I have noticed, that Americans are very mobile comparing to Europeans. I guess - because of language. Texans might sound a little different than Californians, but still it's "the same" English. Danish and Italian have nothing, absolutely nothing in common. But there is "only one country" between them
Here we have to inspect cars annually either. New cars for first 4 years - every 2 years.
Inspection (frankly - quite strict) - 30 €, sticker - 5 €.
Biggest issue is Company car tax, depends. ev - 12 €/m; 2 L diesel Škoda - 30 €/m; once I will be in mood I will ask how much neighbor is paying for his Porsche. My guess - should be just below 100 €/m
I love learning about other countries and traditions. I live about 100 miles from my birthplace. Thanks for reminding me not to get a Volvo just yet.
So what did I learn during the Zoom with my County Council person. (In no particular order)
Yes, we are fortunate that real estate values have increased. The fact that any increase is only on paper unless you sell is not relevant. It’s only a tax increase if the tax rate changes. I got the feeling that with the increased property value and the tax rate is lowered but my total tax rises, it is still considered a reduction. . My comment that writing a larger check than last year was a tax increase in my book wasn’t really acceptable. Homeowner class owners should take comfort that their taxes are limited to a max increase of 3% per year.
The county is required to have a balanced budget, spending cannot exceed income, but when asked why the budget increases because increased income is anticipated, the answer was lost in list of mandatory expenditures.
When asked if the Council person supported the Mayor’s proposed increase - yes, because so much hasn’t supported in the past.
Overall, not an encouraging discussion, taxpayers ripe for the picking.
Keep it up, let them know there will be pebbles in their walking shoes when they raise taxes.
Bought some new blades for my ZT today then swapped them onto the mower so I could sharpen the old ones. Managed to finish mowing paddock 2 so only have about 1/4 of paddock 3 left to do. Then to top the day off I broke another rib, damnit. On painkillers tonight and looks like a day or two in the mancave as I can't do much else. Looks like I will have plenty of time to tidy the cave up now.
So sorry you broke another rib. Prayers you can keep from straining them.

38° right now...high in the mid-40's and some rain
Stepdaughter is in from Wyoming...now, it's a 5 to 1 ratio and I'm on the short end. Actually, all has bee going well and I enjoy their company...for the most part
But, we must remember
Beware the Ides of March!
You say that now, but if their monthly cycles synchronize....plan on some sleeping on the roof....
RNG, you're braver than me... I love the straight Shiner Bock the most.
hope Ron is alright. Anyone hear from him?
Buppies, more prayers. Hope it is as little invasive as possible.
Spring weeds are growing. I saw a post about gardening on FB. It promoted growing your own vegetables. It said for asparagus, you need 5 to 10 plants per person. I know it grows slow. We don't have it wild down here. I bought some seeds, and will try to put about 25 plants in the garden, but I really don't plan to weed around them other than some weed eating action. I will mow them down in winter, fertilize and see what happens. Any other tips?
Don, can't find celebrity tomato seeds yet....will try Ace Hardware. Soil temp is up to 70F today in the sun. I know it could freeze, but a pack of seeds is only about $2. The Bonney plants they sell, cost from $5- $9 for the 10-12" tall plants with some flowers already developing.
Kohler K 301 sitrep: It is totally disassembled. I took the block and valves to a cousin of Don's east southeast of me, and asked his recommendations. I was worried about the valve' faces and seats. He said to let him just grind the exhaust valve, and for me to lap both of them in with some clover compound. I gave him a generous tip (because he's always got me in and out in quick time). Need to find my suction cup lapping tool... I will still have to machine an adapter plate at work. The engine's cylinder bore is at max usable, and the piston is at min usable, so I need to decide if I want a new piston or not...Definitely need rings and some gaskets. The issue is the motor will only fit in a Miller roughneck welder, and if the welder section is no good, I'll be out whatever I've spent... I'm guessing the block and such has some value. It's the crank that is Miller only.
Stopped by John Deere and got the seal kits needed to rebuild the lift cylinder's on the 541 FEL. Have 1 apart. Need to get some O-rings too, to put it back together.
