A $2.00/gallon price increase for a truck averaging 10 MPG would increase fuel cost $0.20/loaded mile or $0.40/round trip mile. Increased fuel cost might be an excuse to jack up the freight cost by$1.00/mile or more?
The truck driver is paying more for groceries, tires, oil, boots, etc, just like everyone else and he needs to make more just like everyone else.

Texas doesn’t have federal lands in oil fields, so your comment is suspect. Most oil permits in the largest oil field in the world are regulated by state governments, not the federal government. Learn something about the facts and tone down the politics.
I forgot that you have all the facts and everything else is BS. got it!
And I was referencing comments from a Texas congressman so do your own research.
I am out of this as we will continue to disagree. Meanwhile we will live with this for at least a few more years.

With 26 million acres of federal leases in their possession and even more acres of private and state lands for drilling, the amount of production is totally within the decision of the corporate boards of oil companies. It’s irrelevant what politicians say; the facts are that nothing is stopping more production. You are making excuses for the very parties that are screwing you at the fuel pump.

Your opinion is miles from mine. I worked in oil/ gas and coal.

You are correct. Fully the decision of corporations on when to invest. That's free market.

They are not screwing me at the pump. Inflation is. So in your mind the oil company's need to dump billions in exploration to reduce todays gas prices? Even if they did, it would be a couple of years to see the effects.

They just can't win. Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Maybe the country is seeing just how much they relied on cheap fuel while demonizing the producers.

Policy: The chairman of the federal reserve announced yesterday that we will have high inflation for at least another year.

And the Transportation Secretary's policy to negate is to buy electric vehicles. I am searching now for E tractors and long haulers but coming up empty so far. I will be back to update when I find it.

I pretty much agree with you. The only other point I would make is all of the increase in prices are not due to increased costs. They are also recovering huge losses incurred during 2020 when demand and prices plummeted. And since I have money in the S&P 500, I guess that I’m one of those shareholders demanding higher returns.

Tell us where are the federal lands in Texas oil fields? Texas has a few small national forests in the eastern part and the oil fields are all private with some state lands.

The fossil fuels industry has been demonized for years.

Why should they go out and spend billions in exploration now? Drilling a hole costs well over 4 million with no guarantee of investment payback.

They have seen how an executive order can effectively sink any confidence in ramping up said exploration.
This is not all of it, but a big chunk for sure.

I keep hearing that their oil companies have 9000 leases they are not drilling on.
I also hear the term "permits" and I assume once leases are granted you don't need any more "permits" so..... why aren't the companies drilling?
Could it be... permits held up by GOVERNMENT is the hold up?
Could it be "permits" ARE needed?
Could that be why people think Biden & the Dem's. could speed things along IF they wanted to?
