Good evening all. At long last the wind has died down. Last night it howled so much that it was impossible to sleep for the last couple of hours before daylight. Fortunately no significant damage to the house, trees have taken the brunt. I can't help assessing tree damage in terms of firewood potential. There were several one-dayers (branches that will keep the woodburner fed for a day) and an oak with a missing crown that will be good for at least a week.
Drew, we have some savings with an "Eco Only" outfit. It offers lower mortgage rates for better insulated houses, which we thought was a good way to encourage people to save wasting heat, regardless of how it is generated, be that gas, solar, or wind turbines. That said, I would have no qualms with my son saving with Vanguard, something that coincidentally he was asking me about only yesterday.
Got my bi-annual eye examination today. Optician confirmed I no longer require glasses to drive, I can read 2 rows below the legal limit. Having weaker (eye) muscles is proving to be a great benefit of getting older
