Good morning!!!!

Morning all 25 going up to the 50's, sunny, see buds on many trees.
Spent yesterday cutting more vines and found more poison ivy.
Cut back the ornamental grass getting ready for new growth.

Working on a solar light fixture for the new mailbox setup the neighbor made.
Tried out one idea last night that looks promising, now have to figure out how to enclose it from weather.

Kyle - at least you have the skills to fix-loaning stuff....
Buppies - hope Mrs. Buppies is ok
Roy - saved by a Dr. appt - good excuse if you ask me.

Drew - hope all goes well and quick at hospital.

PopG - that magnepull looks pretty neat. My fishing reel is getting old. and I need to outside outlets. seems like I am trying to convince myself to buy one. You may get an angry call from my wife soon

Stay safe and be well,
Day off today and wife wants to go to mall --------no Dr. appt to save me

Smell a skunk in front towards road. Hope it moves on.

Happy Presidents Day

67°F and .01 inches rain.

I did opt for the 2 shelves above the fridge. Have to admit a kind of pleasure seeing blank space being transformed into usefulness. .

Not sure what I’ll tackle today. Been avoiding doing the grout in backsplash, but maybe today. I know it will be messy.

Made flight reservations for our son and family to visit this summer. WOW, the airline prices!!!

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon. 57° now and sunny. Very nice outside. Of course it is supposed to cool down by this weekend. Should have taken today as a vacation day.

Yesterday was only 42° at the house, but felt much warmer. Bright sun will do that. Worked on getting some of the ice floes in the driveway broken up This morning was the first time in a while the drive was clear.

Puttered in the garage. Went to bed sorta early and actually slept good last night. That was nice.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Roy, that is the snowblower I almost bought. Since I have no other EGO equipment
I went with gas. And you know how that turned out. But 450 dollar batteries, whooeeee.
I like the quiet operation but likely not that much difference. EFI engine on my Ariens is very quiet.
that gravel getting sucked in sure isn't but that will happen with most snowblowers.

mild headache from no coffee this morning, two hours in hospital, no problems.
stopped on way home and got some more local apples, then had lunch, and might relax with a book this afternoon.
First I need to make some coffee.
Investment committee meeting for my church tonight, by zoom.
We don't have much money to invest but care about where it goes.

Now I'm told there is a huge grassroots campaign among eco investors to divest all Vanguard accounts.
2nd biggest fund family and not too far from here. They say Vanguard, by its very nature of being super big,
has the largest investments in the coal and gas patch of anyone. And they see that as very bad.
Vanguard has eco funds too. If folks want to invest in them, they have the choice.
Shunning Vanguard, or I guess they call it cancelling now, makes no sense to me.
It offers choice.

Someone is going to put a huge squeeze on Vanguard's board of directors on this. A lot of shareholder activism.
I've always liked Vanguard, maybe because Jack Bogle was a good friend of my father's.
And when I became a financial planner, I liked Vanguard because they provided great products at low cost to my clients.
There are plenty of other options. And better green options but at least Vanguard makes an effort to provide green mutual funds.

get me to a coffee pot

When you limit yourself to so called, green investments, you ignore the reality that carbon based fuels are going to be dominate for at least 30-50 years, if not longer. So you ignore that profitability. Whether they invest in coal or not, it’s still going to be here and someone else will collect the profits.

42F cloudy.
Heard a nasty rumor come Friday 5-8 inches snow follow by cold snap.

8 hours at pt. job follow by some good old puttering around the yard, just might cook some pork chop on the grill.
Going to be feet up kinda evening.

Enjoy your evening all.

Good evening all. At long last the wind has died down. Last night it howled so much that it was impossible to sleep for the last couple of hours before daylight. Fortunately no significant damage to the house, trees have taken the brunt. I can't help assessing tree damage in terms of firewood potential. There were several one-dayers (branches that will keep the woodburner fed for a day) and an oak with a missing crown that will be good for at least a week.

Drew, we have some savings with an "Eco Only" outfit. It offers lower mortgage rates for better insulated houses, which we thought was a good way to encourage people to save wasting heat, regardless of how it is generated, be that gas, solar, or wind turbines. That said, I would have no qualms with my son saving with Vanguard, something that coincidentally he was asking me about only yesterday.

Got my bi-annual eye examination today. Optician confirmed I no longer require glasses to drive, I can read 2 rows below the legal limit. Having weaker (eye) muscles is proving to be a great benefit of getting older :)

I was commenting on something I saw and heard about yesterday, not trying to generate political discussion.
it's like EVs coming in; gas and diesel aren't going anywhere soon.
There are many faith based investing initiatives, Catholics have a big one and it has a green fund.
It was always said what was good for Mobil and Exxon XOM were good for the country. If they were doing well, economy was doing well and
likely the market too. I drive a 15mpg hemi. So be it.

XOM is doing quite nicely actually, quite the comeback

eric, you had better check your income tax laws BEFORE buying offshore stocks.
I know in Canada if I buy stocks/bonds or whatever offshore (that is anything that is not Canadian) I get taxed dollar for dollar. $1.oo of dividends cost me $1.oo of tax and on upwards.

Ain't no rumor, Thomas...that's the forecast...closer to 10" here

Roy, that is the snowblower I almost bought. Since I have no other EGO equipment
As you know, I've a number of EGO tools, so it makes it worthwhile to me...and $1299 isn't a bad price for a self-propelled, 24" snow blower
This comes with 2 (7.5 A/hr.) batteries as did my current (not self-propelled) blower. That'll give me 4, unless I sell the older walk-behind unit

   / Good morning!!!! #146,118
You could always come over and borrow mine.
boy I was thinking that.
It's not what you know
it's the friends you keep!

It was fun to see the video of your son Paul. McGyver Jr in training.

   / Good morning!!!! #146,119
That video wasn’t my son, it was something that I found on YouTube showing how it worked. But it was very close to the same job that we did.

Good evening all. 56ºF for the start, overcast sky, light wind. Moderate wind day, overcast almost all day, and high temp was 77ºF, DP 55ºF. Heavy dew in morning, thunderstorms after 8PM at least 1 more round tonight, no hail or real high winds. Putter first thing and take trash out, bike ride beat the worst of the winds, nap, did not get limbs cut up. Tomorrows forecast going downhill and fish tagging, stocking activity on the agenda tomorrow.
