The 2022 Great Cream Cheese Shortage

Kroger was out last week for the first time since the shortage was announced.
Never tried making our own.
Make yogurt all the time.

Wife bought a yogurt maker a couple years ago. I think she used it once, way more effort than it was worth.

No cream cheese here either, Been looking for couple months.

Was back at the store today and there was a bit more cream cheese on the shelves but it was mostly the bricks of plain cream cheese. A bit more of the flavored cream cheeses, but not the normal amount, and there was still bare shelves.

I did not notice any other bare shelves in the store.

Dont use a maker myself. I just place 4 quart jars of inoculated milk on the base of my food dehydrator, set the temp and cover it. Next day I got yogurt.

Kroger is still out of cream cheese.

I made it for a couple of years heating milk on the stove, then innoculating and leaving it on my heating pad for starting seeds.
Then I used the pad in my chicken incubator... I washed the chicken **** off it, but still can't bring myself to use it for yogurt.

Had not but two things the big Supermarket is missing are Toll House Cookie Dough is hit it miss and Chocolate Milk… just disappears for weeks at a time unless buying high priced single serving containers.
