Sticking a Ventrac ain't easy, I would say that you actually got it tangled, not stuck.

as you drive along the small trees, you might be able to do in and out "S" turns, a bit in and out of the tree centerline to get between the trees too.

When mowing around trees I usually go to the left and then to the right of the next tree. It's a lot less turning. When I come back I do the opposite sides of the trees.

The slalom sounds like the most efficient way.

Once an articulated tractor gets tight up against an obstacle, that articulated steering has it's own kind of issues.

When I built my house I rented a telehandler for the early stage work. The framers and roofers used it and then I used it for installing windows with the work platform it came with. It had selectable 3 steering modes. 1. Basic front wheels steer only 2. All wheel steering where the back wheels turned opposite of the front ones for tighter tuns and the real gem #3. Crab steering. You had to have wheels straight ahead to change modes, but you could get right up next to a wall if you wanted to, pop it into crab steering and both front and rear wheels would turn the same way so you could get away from a wall that was only a few inches next to you. That was a lifesaver in a few situations. Being that it was all hydraulic control/drive/steer, it was fairly easy to implement vs anything mechanical.

Just thought it was interesting...

The Toolcat has manual crab steering, very handy:

Nice pics of the crab capability of the Toolcat - my question is about the fence. That's a fine looking fence with painted metal rails thru the posts, and round tops.

Is this fence/post/rail something that was fabbed by you or purchased components? Also I see the end's/corner are welded flanged then lagged?

Looks to be about 5' high, 7' posts? Length of each run of metal 20'? Did you paint? How was the assembly done/connecting the rails - welding or sleeves? Rough cost Per Linear Ft?

Looking to do about 700' here next year and looking at options. Thanks in advance, and don't want to hijack Woodchuck' house build thread - if you prefer PM me.

Purchased in 2011. Priefert’s Ponderosa Fence: Priefert Fence | Fencing

Ten years ago we had to pay a contractor $10 a foot installed. Expensive but worth it for the quality and safety for horses. The pictures above were taken 8 years after installation and it still looks new.
