Brand new KIOTI dead on arrival

I guess the word system sounded like I wanted software that specifically makes things hard to repair. I'm saying I want fuel injection over a carburetor knowing it will be harder to fix but generally more reliable. I don't expect engineers to design it specifically to be easily repaired I expect them to design it in the best and most efficient way possible.

So, how's the tractor holding up?

Finally got out today and did about 4 hours of mowing, before I could only get about an hour before CEL and engine shutting down. I still suspect the dealer was full of it when they told me what they "fixed". First they said short through insulation (sales person) then before I got there and called to confirm it was ready it was fuel rail was bad and wiring. Then when I got there and talked to the tech he told me the harness to ECM looked like it was getting pinched by the hood so he rerouted them and cleared the code. Symtoms were HARD fuel knock at startup, rpms all over the place without using throttle and would die if clutch or brake pressed. I'm guessing they found something they didn't want to fess up to. Time will tell.

It will be interesting to revisit this in a year. Hopefully by then you will have forgotten that there ever was a problem.

The dealer is gonna keep the fuel rail on the paperwork as they won't get paid through warranty if they redo it. Shoot, I had a whole head replaced before under warranty and it turned out to be rodent eaten wires, and this was a 2013 Dodge Journey. Other than the rodent problems, I got another 70k miles out of it before trade in.

Sorry I mis-read it, I read that he did four hours of mowing and then it died not that it did before.

i hate to seem the doomsayer but i would back up the money bus return that thing and go get a deer or kubota, i dont know the KIOTI and it may be a simple fix and leave you with a good machine...OR it may be a lemon, either way its a bad start to the good experience of having your own tractor and for sure its a bad sign when you buy brand new off the lot and now they dont have time for you.
This is funny to me as my family members have had similar issues with new JD tractors and had to fight to get them fixed in a timely manner. It turned out the shops mechanics were not up to the task at hand and had to have a specialist flown out to diagnose and fix but it was worse than pulling teeth trying to get things solved.

Like others Seem to be hinting at, this sounds like something simple that the mechanic might be Missing but the dealership is not stepping up to the plate. That is not a brand specific type of problem and not unheard of from any other brand including kubota and JD.
Therefore only if his options for a better more ethical dealer are better with the other brand would he be better off!

This is all why when a noob asks what tractor they should buy, the top answer is “whichever one has the best dealer support”. If you’re lucky you’ll never need them but if you do they’re invaluable.

And with just a little bit of effort by Kioti and the dealer, this could have been a thread about how great Kioti and their service was, and how many tractors would that have sold? Instead, even though it was eventually resolved, how many sales will this thread cost Kioti? More than you think. When it happens to Deere or Kubota people think “yeah, happens to the best of them” because those companies built their reputations. When it happens to somebody like Kioti they think “I should have paid more for the name brand”. That’s not meant to be a dig at Kioti, its just how people think, especially those new to the tractor market.

And I'm still not convinced Kubota is better than a Kioti.
I have owned my Kioti DK for nearing 21 years (2377 hours) and it has been an excellant tractor.
Have you ever owned a Kubota?

Have you ever owned a Kubota?
Yes i have, I own more than one now...

They are far from bullet proof... I had one eat the hydraulic pump in 850 hrs, another was passing oil through the valve guides and had injection pump problems (1,200 hrs).

I could go on...

It blows me away that these "dingleberrys" have to come on here and try to prove their manhood by trying to degrade other peoples choices over their pick of tractor make,

Personally I looked at Deeres (Dealer kept trying to push me into a lesser model that they had multiples of), Botas (Was my first choice but after test drives felt that the controls were chincy and vibrated more than my girlfriends bedroom toys), NH (Wanted a boomer but none was available during my shopping term) and MF (dealer felt the need to lie to me)

I chose a Bobcat (Kioties little brother) and only had buyers remorse for a short while after Bobcat cancelled their production. Since then my confidence in the tractor has continued to be almost flawless, as I have only had one problem with it in 12 years I have owned it, and it was a simple fix for me and only have had it to the dealer one time for its 50 hour first hydro oil change.

I wish my Ford and GM pickups had been as reliable as the Bobcat

I agree, can't we all just get along?

There are issues throughout the entire service chain. From a tech getting Covid that quarantines the entire service department for 2 weeks. And corporate employees working from home in they are not required to be at the office, and then the months long wait for parts in some cases. As a mower tech and business owner my backordered parts availability has been 6 weeks on the short end, and in the case of Briggs parts 6-12 months.

So part of the issue with the OP's tractor could be a dealer issue, but I suspect they are doing what they can within their current abilities, but could have other things going on beyond their control.
This is where communication comes in. Tell your costumer what's going on.

Blowing them off and giving them the run around is a good way to lose a customer and destroy your reputation.

Agreed. I have a Mahindra that I get grief over. Yet I run a business with it and have 700 hours on it in less than 2 years. I'd buy another 1626 in a heartbeat.

My next tractor when I expand will most likely be a Kioti because I don't like the Mahindras in the larger class.
